Any particular reason it must be 3xAA? There are a lot brighter 1xAA and 2xAA lights.
The only upgrade to a 3AA mini mag is a Surefire 6P or G2 with a DX or Malkoff Q5 or R2 Cree host. That is called an upgrade. I did it and I've never been happier. Good luck!!
That was kinda what I meant. but you are saying to buy a surfire and upgrade it right?
To upgrade the emitter consists of getting a SSC-P4-U2 bare LED (not on star), removing the Lux-III in the Mag, removing the legs and soldering them onto the P4, make sure the P4 slug is isolated, and press fit in place with a little thermal paste underneath the LED.
There are more detailed discriptions of the upgrade in dedicated threads, with pictures. You can use the search function to find them.
I think an emitter swap is the cheapest and best overall solution to getting more light out of a 3AA minimag. Beyond that, you just don't have a whole lot of space to work with. If you're wanting a better light, lights from brands such as fenix and nightcore are great compared to a 3AA minimag. They aren't cheap, but they are much more flexible.I tried that before I started this thread

I have searched and cannot find 1 thread that upgrades the 3AA LED version. Any assistance on this?
It's identical to updating the 2xAA version, which is probably why you search yielded nothing. Try a more generic search.
So the extra 1.5v doesn't matter?
