I was just wondering. Has anyone ever worn out their Pilas; charged or topped them so many times they have started decreasing their output?

I'm not sure if I should be topping them off all the time since they stay pretty bright through their charge in my lights. With other Li-ion powered items I usually don't top them off all the time but the drain is different for lights I would imagine.

TIA,
LT

Wow, nobody's killed one yet. That's good to hear. I guess they're pretty tough then.

I'd still be interested if people are topping them off after only a few minutes? Or even what the usual period use was before topping off.

Hello LT,

When I use a Pila in my L4, I put it on the charger about once a week. Of course I will recharge after heavy use, but most of the time, once a week does it.

Thanks SilverFox. I've got one in an L4 too but I snagged one of McGizmo's 2 stage switched and it's really changed how I use the light. I was charging it after about 15-30 minutes of use but now I can dial it back and use it much longer between charges. My only concern has been the heat. I'm worried not just for the LED but the Pila. I figured lots of CPFers had this setup so maybe somebody had already done in a Pila.

I had one that went bad after 3 charge cycles

My GL4R is going strong after over 2 yrs.
