I decided to break into the battery pack of a HP laptop that I got a few years ago that was riddled with problems from the start (the laptop that is). The battery pack is HSTNN-DB17: 10.8V --- 43Wh. What I found inside was 6 Sanyo 18650 cells. Embossed lengthwise on the side is:

SANYO L
UR18650FH K07B

And if oriented sitting on end, there's dot matrix printing that reads:

C

KAUFH55
037859

6

I googled UR18650FH and found a site called asianproducts.com that sells Sanyo Li-ion rechargeables that look similar and with the same model #. But the listing title of the batteries is not consistent with the product specifications:
SANYO Lithium-ion Rechargeable Battery UR18650FH 2000mAh
Product Name : SANYO Lithium-ion Rechargeable Battery
Model : UR18650F
Norminal Capacity : 2400mAH
Norminal Voltage : 3.7V

The title and specs are conflicting:confused:.

Does anyone here know how to verify the specs with the info I've provided?
The battery pack has been sitting in my desk drawer for over a year. I got the cells apart and cleaned the terminals from where the tabs were spot welded with my dremel sanding drum. Then I charged them in my new Pila IBC. I tried one in my Zebralight H60w and it works. But I haven't tested any runtime with it.

43Wh /10.8V = 3.98Ah

3.98Ah /2 parallel = 1.99Ah per cell.

2000mAh sounds about right.

That 10.8V pack rating is strange, based on 3.6V/cell, normally you'd see a 3S string rated as an 11.1V pack, based on 3.7V nominal per cell.

Yeah, I thought the 10.8V rating was a little weird too.
Seems like 1900 to 2000 mAh is about right for these batteries.

I wondered if there was some sort of database with the specs on raw batteries from laptop packs.

You're lucky. All I have on my sanyos is the K07E marking and the printed characters. Top one is probably some sort of model number, bottom one is a date code. No UR18650_ anything on mine, so I can only assume or guess.

BTW, I know this is an old thread, but people searching may come across it. They might also find this link useful....

Awesome, thank you for this !!!! lovecpf

hmmm... I wonder why sanyo did not put any information in regards to the "H" for UR18650FH . Anyone happen to know what the "H" is for ?
They put the letter "F" >F: High capacity with steady operating voltage model.

I checked the weight of the sanyo UR18650FH I have and it came up to 43.5 g

I believe it is only 2000mAh but could this be the same thing even though the weight is different?
3.7
2500/2600
18.1
64.8
47.0g
