Anyone pick up a 4D Mag at Lowes ($10) this am?

I got one.

If you plan to keep it for yourself, are you planning to mod it? How?

For $10, I couldn't resist. And now, I'd like to make it better, if there's a couple of recommended quick/easy/cheap things that could be done(ie,no soldering).

If not, it will still make a good utility light, or at least a decent club /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have two 4Ds driving 3D Mag bulbs with a sputtered reflectors. I might pick up another one at Lowes... If they happen to have a purple 4D, I'll get it. But I think I've only ever seen the purple 3Ds.

A very easy mod is to replace the incand bulb with an EverLED. Great improvement on a 2D Mag. With a 4D, I think you're basically looking at slightly reduced output but MUCH longer battery life and a better beam.

I bought a couple 3D Mags with sputtered reflectors. I've compared 3D Mags and 4D with and without the sputtering as well as comparing a 4D driving a Xenon bulb vs a 4D driving a 3D Krypton bulb. To my eyes, the 3D bulbs are cheaper and more desirable.

And a nicer lens that won't get scratched up might be nice. Supposed to let a bit more light through as well. I'd imagine that comparing the stock 4D Mag to a 4D driving a 3D bulb with a sputtered reflector and UCL lens, there'd be a definate improvement for very little money and very little work.

If they'd had any purple Maglites I would have bought one for my girlfriend, but they didn't, so my $10 went into my Surefire fund.

My lowes was "4C" lites for 9.97 not D's. and they were all gone by noon, when i got there. I did get a purple 2D to do some modding like we have seen here lately, mop reflector, xenon bulb or everled, or diamond luxeon, rechargable's either the 2X3AAA holders or whatever. if it's cool I will give it to mom, and then get another for me. Yeah, I didn't see any purple Mags in any size.

I bought two 3D Mags with sputtered lenses from a member here in the B/S/T forum. Haven't tried sputtering myself yet, but it definately cleans up that beam.

I bought 2 of them yesterday, one black and one silver. Those were the only colors they had. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them yet, but I couldn't pass that deal up.

The reason why I didnt buy one is cuz these 4d lights are just too big in my opinion. If they offered 2C lights I woud have bought a couple.

This works for me..... eBay item 4339432549.... OK it's a shameless plug. I make this adaptor to use 3- 3 watt luxeons direct drive in a 3 or 4 cell m@g with minimun effort. I bought 3, 4 cell m@gs from Lowes to convert for Christmas presents. Please delete this post and accept my apologies if I am breaking any rules.
