Theyre selling it at a local store, but the only info they give is that it features a cree 3w led... all the x-re series from P to R fit the description...

Its 2 AA, claimed 100 lumens (again, real or claimed...), has a normal and a useless mode... It is sold Hofer (Aldi). I am thinking of getting it for someone as a christmass present, since i'm a bit tired of ordering online and waiting for a month. Its cheap, has usefull waranty, uses the batteries i want and i can get it right away (well from tomorrow on at least).

So if anyone recognises it, has it, plans on buying it, knows (or will know) what emitter it features, i'd apreciate it. :) And heres the picture of it, if anyone recognises it straight away.

thnx for stealing those 20 secs of my time to klick that page away + type these lines

What advertising link? The first one works fine for me, not sure how the second got there but it shouldnt be about advertising either..

With luck Aldi UK may have that on offer before long and if they do will get one just because you get a 3 year ticket, bought a cheap one from Tesco UK and that packs a real punch as well.

That is image shack, not the OP.
Never click on anything while on image shack. That is their way of bypassing the no popup setting of your browser.

I'm sorry if image shack is giving any problems, i think i got the image to work now without clicking the link... Not used to this forum.

About lumens, if it really has a decent cree in it driven at 800mA, i don't see why wouldn't it have a decent amount of lumesn for a smal light like that. I know it wont set any records, but i'm not looking for that either. If its easy driven, batteries will last longer. :]

I'm more worried about it having some crap emitter that wont give lumens nor runtime. Or a crappy reflector with ugly beam... Warranty pretty much takes care of any technical problems, you get an instant replacement or cashback :)

I suggest using FF+adblock. I dont see any adds or popups. I'd use a better site but my usual one is down.

hmm
when I read the 1st post, there were 2 links.
1 leading to the picture now shown directly in post, and
a 2nd one that gone to that poker ad.

I found a debate in german about it here: http://www.messerforum.net/showthread.php?t=69814

looks like it features XR-C emitter, too bad, i was hoping for an X-RE.

You could always mod it ;)
The guys at messerforum think that it's about 70 lumens.
Frankly, it looks quite good for the ~15 USD it is selling for.
I, for example, still got a cool white XR-E Q5 emitter I swapped out for a warm white in another light. This would make a nice loaner light.

Btw, I could do manual translations of posts in messerforum if the machine translation is incomprehensible

Illum: I use adblock plus in firefox with automatic updates and the EasyList filter list. I see very few ads. there shouldn't be any ads visible on such a popular site like imageshack with any decent list.

True, but that would defeat al the benefits from it... That is the price would double since atm i have no driver or a decent cree, i'd have to wait for the mod, no more warranty, a good chance i mess it up etc... :D

I think it's not a bad buy even if it is only 70 lumens

edit: brb, going to Aldi ;)
Maybe they have it

by the way, T0RN4D0, I'm trying to guess where you're from.
Aldi is called Hofer where you live (like in Austria), but you're obviously not in Austria. But the marketing department at Aldi <yourcountry> wanted to associate it with Austria, which leads me to believe that your country was once part of the Austria-Hungarian Empire.
'Garancija' looks relatively understandable, i.e. in my case that means a Romanic language. So I'd dismiss hungarian, which is probably the weirdest language I've ever seen.
Ok and here I got stuck and just looked up in which country besides Austria Aldi is called Hofer ;)

I'm from Slovenia, the only country besides Austria that has Hofer instead of Aldi. :p Its interesting that they want 12€ for it in Austria but only 10€ here, because its usually cheaper in Austria

I haven't decided if i want it yet, i'll decide when i see it :]

Hi everybody,

and hello TORN4DO,another flashoholic from SLO here and a couple of thoughts on the light in question.
I picked up two yesterday because I need a couple of loaners so i decided to give them a try.
They are worth the money and they are quite well made. One has a slightly off centered led and they are quite hefty. The anodizing is two tone type II,the beam has slight artifacts(rings)not realy noticable outdoors. The led is covered with optics and has a good throw for such a small led,the tint is slightly on the cool side.
Overall the light is a decent one for a non flashoholic,a car or as a loaner, the price is nice so maybe you should give it a try.

Take care,Rak
