Is it permissable to discuss the current state of affairs of CC dropping all ARC products from their civillian web site in this forum? If not, is there a forum in which it is permissable?

I would like to discuss the topic, but I do not wish to violate any rules/guidlenes weather spoken or unspoken, so I'd like to clarify this before anyone invensts their time and energy in starting a discussion which will only be terminated before it reaches a conclusion.

Seems like since it's ARC you're talking about you might want to mention it on the ARC forum. That way Peter can more easily notice that there is an ARC question and respond to you more quickly.

You may want to give Sasha or David (or a Moderator) a PM...
Best way to discuss this, IMHO...

---There ye go... What James said...

James,

It's more CC which I wish to discuss. Having the discussion in the Arc forum seems to put Peter in an unfair position as he's the moderator there and it doesn't seem right to ask him to play the role as both participant and moderator.

I only expect ARC with show up as a practical 'for instance' and not be really at the heart of the discussion.

Cheers.

FalconFX,

I wish to avoid PM for this subject as I feel to much has been hidden by the use of PM for discussions which would benefit the CPF membership better if it was kept open.

After all, the value of a forum is in the content provided by the members. This value is also a service *to* the members

I believe a similar thread got locked down after a while of discussion. Hopefully Sasha and or DavidW will give their approval/disapproval to this topic. You probably should wait until you hear from them.

It's just a touchy issue. As much as it can benefit CPF from having people chime in on the subject matter, it could also serve to inflame some people... There was already a thread on it, and it gave a lot of people fits, so I don't know if it's a good idea to start one again...

I have no intention of proceeding until I hear from an administrator. So, let me clarify for anyone who wishes to discuss this before then. *do not use my thread for that*

This thread is only for soliciting a response regarding the appropriateness of such a discussion. It is *not* the discussion. If/when such a topic is approved, I will start a completely different thread for the actual discussion.

There is little reason to post in this thread unless one is qualified and authorized to answer the fundimental question--or questions arising therefrom.

Ironically, thanks for pointing that out as I forgot to mention that in the origianl post. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I agree it should not be dicused in the Arc forum..or the CC dealers thread. This should be the place for such topics. BUT...as both companies are supporters of this forum and the topic so sensative...the thread would likely be shot down in a heart beat. My advise is...don`t go there.

Just my two cents.

willmore,

If you haven't already pm'ed or e-mailed Sasha or DavidW about this question, you should. I am not saying that this should necessarily only be discussed privately. I just mean that they are the ultimate arbiters of the questions in your first post, ie "Is it permissable to discuss the current state of affairs of CC dropping all ARC products from their civillian web site in this forum? If not, is there a forum in which it is permissable?"

In the future, I personally would recommend sending questions like this directly to them, rather than posting them in a forum. Needless to say (but I will say it anyway) if either of them gives you advice that contradicts mine, follow theirs and feel free to ignore me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Please, everyone, try to stay on topic for this thread.

We are not discussing weather to have this discussion, but *where*.

Later, if/when such a discussion takes place, it will be up to the participants to keep themselves on topic and civil. Anyone who cannot do that will simply be asked to abstain from posting. We are all supposed to be adults--even those who are not legally adults are expect to behave as if they are (which they seem to do better than those of us who *are* adults, sometimes).

My take is that it would be best to ask CC and/or Arc directly and *privately*. The only thing that will happen if a thread is posted here is the same thing that has happened in other threads of this topic. Guesses, finger pointing, and setting up two camps that yell at each other. What happened between those two companies is really none of our business. What happened happened. I see no good in dragging this around and beating it to death. What's the purpose really? If you really want accurate information, go to the source. Playing the guessing game just isn't any fun, and people get hurt for no reason.

Thank you. If it is deemed inappropriate for the CPF to discuss this issue, then I very may start the discussion there. As the topic concerns members of the CPF, I felt it appropriate to have it under the auspices of that forum. But, if it is decided that it is not welcome at the CPF, I shall certainly look elsewhere as I fully intend to respect the wishes of those who represent the CPF.

To summarize, the question is not "will this discussion be held?" but "shall it be held on CPF?".

Wow, most excellent advice Darell!

When you bother to post on topic, you really do have something to say. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Darell,

You are an administrator. Are you speaking as such and are you saying not to have this discussion at the CPF?

The do/don't call is totally left up to David and Sasha. They have been notified. When I speak, I speak as ME, Darell. Being an admin just means I can do some housekeeping around here. I've said what I think is appropriate, but I have left it up to you to make the call. Again I ask: Do you just want a bunch of guessing and finger-pointing? We've already covered that in several threads on this same subject.

I'll be away from the computer for a bit.

Willmore,

I think this is a really sensitive subject around here. It is probably best if you have this discussion somewhere else. I think it would just be best.

I'm not a moderator or anything though, so what I say is only my opinion, and doesn't mean much.

You guys can feel free to email me at [email protected]

I probally won't be able to explaining it perfectly or completely, but I can give it a shot.

Understand that my effort through this would be to try to solve problems instead of creating new ones.

Peter

I will ask once more. Please, everyone, try to stay on topic.

Peter, thank you for your response, but it does not address the question currently posed. The question is *not* what happened, it is "is CPF a valid forum for such a question and if so, wherein?"

Darell, thank you. It's always difficult to understand what capacity within which someone is working. I've always known you to be a participant in discussion and not an administraton, that's why I had to ask to clarify.

Thanks for notifying Sasha and DavidW. I will await their attention.

To clarify with everyone who wished to discuss this topic or to discuss whether to discuss this topic--please save it! It is not appropriate here. Wait until a forum is chosen, please. Please do not discuss it here. I have no interest in discussing opinion on the subject at this point. Please respect my wishes as originator of this thread and address only the question it raised.

Darell says that Sasha and DavidW are notified, so there is little more to say until they have had an opportunity to address the question. Let us respect them and give them that opportunity.

Thank you.
