i just got off the phone with surefire and they say that the arc 2 will be released February 28. now i know that they have been very slow on releasing this but i am hoping that this will be it. what do you think?

It hasn't been released for sale to the public and it's questionable if it ever will be. Surefire has been agonizingly slow at bringing their "new" products to market.

See a few threads down the board since they were discussing the price there.

That should be taken with a pinch of salt coming from SF customer service, but if that's what they told you then there's always a chance. I'm waiting to see the retail price before I get excited though.

Maybe this is an indication that the other SF's will be released shortly.

As Monkeyboy stated, SF's release dates have been inaccurate time after time. I still consider it good news that they gave you a month and date rather than a season.

I think the concept is neat and the size will be great, but once again, it's hard for me to become too excited until the price is released. With up to 5000 lumen capability, I have a feeling that it's going to be much higher than the anticipated figure of $1500, in which case the Polarion X1 is still fantastically attractive in the "high-end" range of HID.

They have prototype models. When I was there Thursday the guy helping me out with a RMA said that they have them in the back and they are just using them and pushing them to see if they fail. He mentioned that a lot of the lights weren't canned that we thought were but have had extended development periods.

Obviously you never know. But I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they actually had them all in preproduction status just been hitting roadbumps.
