ARc 4+ sales...why??

Probably trying to still cash in on the run on Arc products, just my guess. I have 3 Arc 4's, all first runs and like them. Some could be selling to buy the HDs lights that are comming out.

HDS may replace the Arc4+. What are Arc4+'s going for on ebay? I hadn't realized they were going for a big premium.
HDS at the moment makes no attempt to replace the Arc AAA, which was Arc's best light and is the one most in demand. It sold new for around $25 and apparently has commanded over $100 on ebay. Similarly, Arc LS series lights have gotten a premium too, though less extreme. But I thought that the premium for Arc4+'s was rather small.
Anyway, the Arc4+ was an Arc/HDS collaboration and so the HDS EDC lights can be thought of as later, improved models of the same light. The Arc4+ was sort of a work in progress when Arc went under.

I'm impressed and surprised if a run-of-the-mill Arc4+ went for 385 anywhere. There were a few special ones that went for that much, and some Arc4x's that went for considerably more.
Me, I just got a Nuwai Q3 and its beam seems just about identical to the Arc4+ (factory 2nd) that I sold for $90 a few weeks before Arc went under. In fact I think the Nuwai is brighter.

In a moment of photon insanity (rather a common affliction around here) I paid $365 for one of the last Arc 4+'s produced, but that's another story. I've seen more than few sell in this price range. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I don't think it's the norm, and I doubt it will ever be.
I just auctioned off my ARC4+, it was a rev1 "second", and my only ARC4+(i have a decent collection other arc lights) i sold it because I figured the time was right...
my new LiON heart serves my needs and is upgrade friendly, the ARC4 was NOT!, it was never "treasured" like my other arc lights for that reason, and for these kind of prices

I don't know what other people's motivations are, but I am selling off mine because I used them as baselights for a fiber optic illuminator for use in the medical, law enforcement and safe and vault fields. Since Arcs are no longer supported, warranted or obtainable, I can't use them for that purpose any longer.
I have come up with another baselight/fiber optic coupler design based on another vendor's unregulated light engine. My results from that design have been an overall increase of 150% (8800 Lux measured at the tip of the endoscope with the tip in contact with the lux meter's sensor) over the Arc4+. The cost of this design is less and will make a good non-premium addition to my line of products, but I still need a high-end performer.
I am now doing R&D on several lights from alternative vendors. I require a VERY bright, white, narrow beam and VERY high fiber optic coupling efficiency. I am experimenting with a new collimator which is designed for coupling either 1.25 or 5 watt Luxeons directly to the fiber bundles. I am hoping for an overall increase of 500% (29,500 lux as measured from the tip of the endoscope) in the light output over either the LSHFP or the Arc 4+.
If anyone has any suggestions, I am all ears!

Don't know why but I still use my Arc4+ 2nd.

In 5 years im sure it will be worth more, but im also sure your market will be much smaller as well. Just collectors instead of al flashaholics.
