Hi all

Newbie here and a new Arc AA owner. I have a small problem in that the rubber skirt (not the O ring) seperated from the head assembly. Is this a big deal? I've had the light less than a week. Fitted it back in the main body on top of the battery and screwed the head back on. Everything worked. Should I send it back or just leave it as is? I'm very impressed with the light. Enough so that I am going to order the 5 pack special. Thanks for any input.

Hi,

Welcome to CPF! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you look at the Arc Flashlight FAQ that's stickied at the top of this forum, you'll find this link for Arc-AAA maintenance (which is virtually identical to the AA):

Basically, you are referring to the foam retainer on the head. It's there to keep the battery from rattling. You can contact Arc for replacements:

Note: Arc provides free replacement retainers and o-rings. Just send us an SASE w/a note for how many you need.

Thanks for the reply. Does the skirt just glue on to the head assembly? I still have it so I'm not really sure if I need a replacement if all I have to do is glue it back on. It came off while removing the O ring to sand it down a bit to make the operation easier. (Suggested in another thread) That worked like a charm BTW with just minimal sanding with 800 grit paper. Thanks again.

The foam retainer has (had) adhesive on it. If it's no longer sticky you might have to use a small amount of glue. Personally, I would just put the retainer back in place and order some new ones and replace it when you get them. I don't like to gunk mine up. Now that you've sanded your O ring, make sure that you re-lube it.
