Arc AAA running on "dead" battery

I ran one for about 3 hours in moon mode on a "dead" battery.
I have an energizer 4AA 2 LED area light, the little one they sell at Wal-Mart for 9 bucks, and it has been running for 5 weeks straight non-stop now on 4 AA's that were totally dead to my UKE 2AA incandescent penlights. It's a good night light with dead batteries. I use it to keep my 9P aglow in the dark on my night table.
