Hello I am working on my Arc aaa collection but am having a hard time telling the difference between the models. I was hoping to start a visual reference to the different types that showed any distinguishable markings/colors. Also if anyone has a complete list I would much appreciate it. I have a long ways to go I am sure /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well after some digging I think I got it right. As far as age goes, the one in the middle is the oldest, followed by the top then the bottom is the new style? Or do I have it mixed up here?

The top is the new style; as evidenced by the lettering on the side of the barrel instead of encircling the top of the barrel.

CPF Edition Arc-AAA flashlights have come in two varieties so far:

The 2002 CPF Arc is a dark blue color.
The 2003 CPF Arc is a dark red color.

Both CPF Arcs are functionally identical to the Arc-AAA PE (formerly the Arc-AAA LE). Only the anodizing color differs.
They both have a Type III hard anodizing; that's why the colors are darker and a bit muted.

Let me go snag a photograph...BRB...

Top: CPF Arc-AAA 2002.
Center: CPC Arc-AAA 2003.
Bottom: Arc-AAA PE, prior to Arc moving the inscribing to the center of the barrel.

So are the ones that simply say ARC (bottom in pic) older than the ones that say L.E.D "AAA" -Arc Flashlight, LLC (middle pic)? The one that just has ARC is the most recent one I have purachsed. The one with the side lettering is my RGB and the only one with lettering down the side.

A slight thread hijack here. I understand that there is some incompatiblity between some heads and tubes w.r.t threads. Is there a clear visual clue as to which is the old and new thread style? Also, is it a simple incompatibility in that you must have the correct head and tube or is it something odd like all heads will fit one tube type but not vice versa?

From what I know, the topmost one is the newest, the bottom one is the second newest, and the center one is the oldest of the three in the photograph.

I could be incorrect here though; anybody who thinks so please feel free to correct me if I got it wrong. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Strange- I have 2 standards dated May 13 2004 that have the "wrap around" writing (middle of top picture) and a premium dated May 26 2004 that has only the ARC-P marking on it (bottom one in top picture). I haven't seen any with the side lettering.

The only one with the horizontal lettering on the side of the barrel (as in the top Arc in Fickle1's photograph) is the Arc-AAA RGB I purchased in late October 2003.
