A note on ARC's service. I sent two first generation Arc AAA's in for repair or replacement and received two new ones exactly a week later, shipped priority mail (that is how I sent them in). This is from AZ to MA.

LE vs. AAA: In my opinion, though it's hard to quantify, the LE is definitely brighter then the AAA, maybe by 15 percent? Also seems to have a larger sweet spot as well. I would imagine this extra brightness would come at the expense of reduced battery time. Has anybody done any studies on this?
Still, I'm spoiled and the regular AAA's will go as gifts and I will order two more LEs when second production run is made.

Hopefully we will have the LS's in hand before Halloween.

Peter if you can predict that far ahead and assume we will have the LS's in hand by the end of the month or thereabouts, will there be a second run and will second run be finished before Christmas, should I love my LS so much as to want to give another as a gift?

The LE uses a better LED (higher brightness ranking) and has about 45% more brightness at the same electrical data (5.6cd versus 8cd at 20mA), so battery runtime is the same (may only differ due to cell and circuit tolerances).

If the ARC-LE keeps being run, batch after batch, it will not truly be a limtited edition anymore. Maybe Peter can add it to his product line and call it ARC-AAA II

?

Just my $0.02

Oh I would love to do that or simply make the finish another option. There is a reason for the "limited" identifier though. The LED is truly limited. Nichia cannot gurantee that they will get anymore once their current stock runs out. Who knows, it might be another couple of long years before they get more (like the last time).

So the finish will definately stay in one form or another. The SB1 rank LED and the "limited" moniker will not.

Peter. Thank you for that reply. BTW, my ARC-LE has become my EDC. It's the very first torch that I have EVER put on my keychain.

As an added note. OOP'S, there goes the official CPF torch. I belive the general consensus is a S ranked led.

I'd like to second nonbox's question ... I'd like to pick up an Arc LE, but don't see them orderable from the web site. Are there firm plans for another batch, and if so, is there a date you think they'll be orderable? Thanks Peter!

By the way, I meant that as an extreme compliment to Arc. I didn't specify that in the first message.

Hi Joe,

Yes, we now have some in stock and may be ordered either from our web site or from our distributors.
