I just ordered one of these and I'm wondering how most people carry it. It seems to be an in between size - a little too large/fat for keychain or pocket carry, and no clip for it (that I'm aware of). I'd prefer not to use the pouch, but maybe that will turn out to be the best option.
Thanks.

I used to carry it in my front pocket but now I'm using a Ripoffs holster.

I carry mine in a watch pocket. If I'm wearing cargo shorts, I throw it in a zippered pocket. If I have neither a watch pocket nor zippered pocket, I manage to find an otherwise empty pocket somewhere.

I don't like it next to keys or coins. It's not that they would hurt the light; it's that I still think of it as new and don't want the tinyest scratch.

P.S. How about an ankle holster?

Me too, The LS had a pocket all its own.

I took the clip off a name-tag and made a 1 inch lanyard. When I slide it in my front pocket the back of the clip catches the pocket rim and it rides vertical in the pocket. I don't notice it when I sit and usually pat my pocket several times a day just to make sure it's still there! If I put it in my pocket without hooking the pocket rim it rides at the bottom of the pocket and feels too lumpy. With the clip I can clip it to my shirt for hands free use.

I sure like this light!

i just throw mine in my pockets with whatever else is living in there. they are tools!

This is an honest question:

How do you propose to scratch HA-III? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I've read of people deliberately stomping and grinding the LS with boots on concrete, only to have the LS emerge as new.

Not to answer for PaulW but I was more worried about the lens getting scratched.

The LS1 with twisty is a small pocket light, and I toss it into my left front pants pocket. I developed a habit of not putting coins or keys there.

Currently I have a neck lanyard attached and wrapped in a double, Chris Reeve Knot http://www.chrisreeve.com/righthandcoilknot.jpg
which shortens the lanyard into a 3" long fob which is convenient to grab in the pocket.

I used to carry it with a 6" lanyard. I'd loop the lanyard around my belt, and the LS would hang suspended in my pants pocket several inches from the bottom, preventing scratches. I stopped doing this because I wanted a neck lanyard; it was inconvenient to undo the loop to use the light, and scratching didn't turn out to be a problem.

The LS body is so tough, by the time it gets all scratched up, I will have upgraded to a newer improved generation ARC light. And the lens? Doesn't seem to scratch too much and it's easier to use plastic polish occasionally rather than worry about it.

For the LS with the 123 TSP pack, if my pants have a spare cargo
pocket it goes in there; otherwise in the ARC nylon pouch on the
belt. For the LS with the 2-AA pack, I use one of several holsters
made for 2-AA lights on the belt; or it may go in the back pack.
In general, a light carried on the belt is easier to use, but one
in the pocket is more inconspicuous and less in the way.

I attached a BP Mini-Clip to mine so that the clip faces outward. I then drop the light into the far outside of my pants pocket and let the clip catch at the top of my pocket. The clip allows the light to be suspended in my pocket at the outside corner. It works with all my pants and shorts. When there's no pockets, there's always the inside of my waistband.

HA-3 is tough but it is nowhere near that tough. This sort of treatment will definitely damage not only the HA-3 but also the metal underneath. Heck, I've dropped my Arc from a height of 4-5 ft. onto concrete which was sufficient to damage the aluminum and thus take off some of the HA.

I carry my LS w/123 twisty & finger lanyard on my belt in a homemade quick-draw cordura holster most of the time. When I wear a suit, sometimes I'll just drop it in the inside jacket pocket by itself.

I like this idea along with cmendoza's.
I think having the light suspended above the bottom of the pocket is worth trying. But what exactly is a BP Mini-Clip?

I carry in a modification of a couple really good ideas I've seen mentioned in other threads (that are repeated above). I put a Berkeley Point clip on the split ring of my LS (had to take the ring off the Arc first, then attach it to the clip, then reattach the ring to the Arc).

I then used Gyverpete's ingenious carry method as a starting point. I started trying to replicate his method (he generously sent me detailed instructions) but I got frustrated with the fiddly elastic I had.
However, I got tsg68 to make a custom wrist lanyard for me with a B-lok on it - and for my purposes, this thing works like a charm.

I carry the LS in my jeans' watch pocket, with the B-Lok adjusted so a loop just a bit larger than my thumb peeks out of the watch pocket. I can slide my thumb in and pull out the LS right into my palm. It's not as snug as elastic would be, but if I needed it to stay I could cinch up the B-Lok, or change grip and put the lanyard around my wrist (it's big enough that the loop above the B-Lok can accomodate my thumb, and the loop closer to the LS can accomodate my wrist, without having to move the B-Lok).
Then, if needed, I could snug the B-Lok either way.

Also, the length of the lanyard lets the thumb loop protrude from khakis/dress pants, and I don't have to wear a belt pouch.

Thanks to other CPFers for some really nice carry ideas.

I've been using a nylon pouch originally made for Zippo lighters that I got from Smokey Mountain Knifeworks for $2. I wear this with a suit, jeans or on my fanny pack belt if I'm in sweat pants or shorts. A LS with a twisty pack fits perfectly but a LSH-P with its clickie tail is a little too long for it. However, Brigade Quartermaster has 3-way belt sheath for a folding knife which, in the small size, fits the LSH-P to a tee with room in the bottom for a spare battery. They are both plain black with no lettering. I like that.

I carry the 2AA version (for runtime)and find that a slightly modified MAG 2AAA (no misprint) holster provided the slimmest carry of any pouch that I've seen.
