I have had a arc ls first run for over a year and wondered if anyone has experienced the same flicker I have. It seems like the head has a dirty connection but the head an all three bodies ( single AA 2xAA and the 123 ) have been cleaned again and again without change. The light is just very tempermental and you just have to tighten it to the right sweet spot to keep it in sun mode. It does this when cold or hot, new batteries or old rechargeable etc. I love the light when it stays in sun mode and wonder if there is any fix. I kinda like the new style with the clickie, I wonder if that would fix it? Any thoughts? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

If you have cleaned the contacts repeatedly to no avail, my next best guess is that your Arc LS is suffering from a flex problem.

Try contacting Arc to see what they can do for you, most likely, if it is under warrenty, you may just get a new one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm sure it will, i have no doubt about it. Arc's customer service will take good care of you. Let us know what they say. Good luck. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

maybe dumb questions, but, did you scrub the negative contacts down in the bottom of the barrels too? and the battery contacts?
twirling a clean pencil eraser on there may help..

If the light flickers and goes out when you tighten it down it is most likely the flex problem. Much was written about this already here on the CPF but to summerize, it was a problem with LS's made about a year ago and was fixed with the newer models.

And yes, it is definately covered under warranty.

My Arc LS version 1 has this same issue, but since I started using the clicky switch, I can put it in the sweet spot and it functions just fine.

Thanks for the info, I will see if I can send it to get fixed. I don't have a receipt as it was a gift. Thanks again for the info.

Medix,
Thats the great thing about Peter and Merri's Company. You don't need a receipt, they know about when it was made and will stand behind their product. It's got a ten year warranty, they don't care where you get it, they stand behind it. What a company!!!!! Doug /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
