Arc LS threads

I've always wondered why there are more turns of threads on the battery packs compared to the head.

I mean when you screw the battery pack all the way in, only the front section of threads on the pack gets used anyway. Is there a reason for all the extra turns in the pack?

Hmmmmmmm ... Just had to take mine apart to see how far down the threads were engaged, and on my Arc LS Hybrid, the P123 pack threads are engaged for just over 2/3 of their length (about 2.8 turns).

I suspect with the many versions of everything that there is great variation ...
