Anyone know what the tolerance and wattage of the sense resistor on the arc ls board is? I havent dealt with smt components before and ordered resistors from the Sandwich Shoppe thinking that the arc used 0603 footprint components also. I thought 0805 was small until I saw the 0603 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

Thanks,

The 0603 footprint resistor is typically rated 1/16th watt, and the shoppe resistors should be fine for a replacement.

What kind of a mod are you doing? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

So the 0603's that I received from the Shoppe are okay to use on the arc board which uses 0805 footprint? I'll have to take a look at the board again. Is it physically possible to bridge the larger footprint?

Doing the standard arc mod. Bump up the current, install a lux III and fraen lp optic. My first /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Yes, the shoppe's resistors work wonderfully for that. One trick that I've found makes it easier is to bump the one you're adding up against the existing one, to help keep it from floating around. Some people use a dab of superglue to help keep surface mount components in place before they're completely soldered down.

We'll all hate your guts (unless, of course, you're building a 100% efficient converter board that fits inside an Arc AAA head... then we'll bow and kiss your toes)

Humm, I wonder how folks will feel when I use 0201 resistors... small 0201, 0402, 0603, 0805 huge

LOL. Just yesterday I was looking at a reference text I have on SMT. In the chapter on passives I noted a table on case sizes that only went *down* to 0805. Some nearby verbage mentioned 1206 as the industry dominant size. The last revision of this book was 1995. Things sure have changed. 0201? I think that fly turds are bigger.
