ARC Vs SL Stylus

How does the brightness of the ARC AA or AAA compare with the Streamlight Stylus?

Edit: I just found Infinity Task lights and Infinity Ultra, which appear to be much like the ARC AAA lights. What is there to choose between them?

Oooooo. It helps to keep a ruler handy when comnparing these lights. The lighst you mention are very different in size.

Stylus is a pen light, long and slim (AAAA batteries).
ARC AAA is a short slim light (AAA battery).
ARC AA and Infinity are short and fat (AA battery)

Each one has it's advantages. The ultra and ARC AA are probably the brightest. The stylus is shirt pocket and the ARC AAA fits in any pocket without being bulky.

Thanks for the reply.
I have a Stylus, and carry it in my shirt pocket at night. I also have it next to my bed in case I need to get up in the night. I also have a Mag 3C and a firearm, but the Stylus is a good light to use and not awaken my wife.

It is about the least bright light that I would want. That was the reason for my question. I have some 1 AAA cell lights, such as the Key Mate and the small key chain Mag light.

Those lights are much less expensive than the Arc, and so I am wondering what the Arc would do that those lights do not. It would have to be brighter to justify the cost. I do not anticipate any mods to the light, but to use it as I would the Key Mate.

The Infinity is also less expensive than the Arc, so why would I want to spend more money for the Arc? I have never seen either so I do not have any idea as to the workmanship or whatever might make me want to pay more for the Arc. I have an idea that the Arc is often modified, and that might be a factor in its popularity.

Arc AA VS Infinity Ultra,
The Arc is slightly smaller, lighter and uses HA III instead of HA II that the Infinity uses. The Arc will maintain it's superb finish better. The Arc also has a flat tail so you can stand it on end.
Concerning battery life, the Arc wins at 13.5 hours VS 11 hours of the Infinity Ultra. I call this a tie since the Ultra regulates flatter.
The brightness on both of them is about the same so the choice is yours. I will be getting an Infinity Ultra and red LED tasklight pretty soon. A friend of mine is going to rather crude conditions in South America is a few months. He will be given them as long as he lets me know how well they work in hot and humid environments.

actually, the arc is rarely modded because it works so darn well as it is, but does make a good host because of the superior build quality compared to other lights.

i don't believe anyone should be without an arc aaa/aa for any reason. it's tougher, more waterproof, smaller, etc than anything else.
i don't have a stylus, but the arc aaa/aa is an entirely different beast, and should be a requirement for anyone with flashaholic tendancies /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have a couple of the Stylus bought them a few years back when they first came out. I never use them anymore, I much prefer the ARC-AAA.

If you NEED or HAVE to use a penlight, something very slim that fits in a shirt pocket the Stylus is the way to go other than that get the AAA.

The Stylus is about the same brightness as the Arc AAA Preminum and the ARC is indestructible and waterproof.

The Stylus that I have is slightly brighter than my Arc AA, Arc AAA and Infinity Ultra. But they are all in the same general class as far as brightness goes.

My preference is my ArcAAA's and my ArcAA's.
I have 2 of each. They have been dropped, kicked, lost, found, (thats why I have 2 of each)

I appreciate all the comments.

Subject to changing my mind, I don't want to pay the price for the Arc when it is no or little brighter than a Stylus. I like to carry the Stylus in my shirt pocket at night.

JerryM, keep in mind the nuisance and expense of getting AAAA batteries for the Stylus, if you're going to use it a lot and don't want to take apart 9 volt rectangular batteries. If you'll just use it now and then, though, the AAAA's will last a long time.

I accidently bought a pretty good supply. I think I have enough to last for years.
Thanks for the thought,though, because I haven't noticed them in Walmarts for example.
