Arc4+ swich problem/2x123

I wonder if any, how this current Acr4+ REV2 switch problem will impact the upcoming 2x123 battey pack?
 
Presumably, since the problems seems to originate from cell length variations, doubling the number of cells will double the precision required of the tail pack. Unless some fix can be found that fully accounts for wide variations of cell length, the 2x123 pack will exacerbate any existing problem.

You can make it as precise as you want and it will not help. You need a switch system which is more tolerant to different cell lengths.
 
Well, I was referring to the part of the switch system that resides in the tail pack. But perhaps the ultimate solution lies in the actual switch in the head.
 
The ARC4 is designed to work with bare Li-Ions - therefore I would caution against designing it for the non-standard length PILAs.

To make the 2x123 pack work with the copia 150 cell, there would have to be quite a tolerance for cell length. The current switch design is not as friendly to this as a new switch design will be. However, there are other options at this time that I find more attractive.

The 2x123 pack was really intended to be used with the Arc5. As was stated earlier, the Arc5 is being delayed until next year because we already have a lot to do this year.

The other reason to make the 2x123 pack was for the copia 150 cell. However, that was before I had a chance to test the rechargeable LiIon 123s that JSB found. I have tested these cells and have observed usefull performance. Now that the the cell voltage is increased, I get several weeks of average use from each cell. My goal is foremost for EDC use. The 123 LiIon provides good run times in a compact, easy to carry package. Therefore, I strongly recommend the 123 cells for rechargeable use.

Jon and I are putting together a deal where Arc will offer cells and chargers on our website to be used with the Arc4.

Now I understand that a lot of you have invested in the copia system and it would be nice if it could also be used. With the smaller 123 solution providing good run times, the larger copia solution is too bulky in my opinion. However, the Arc5 will be able to put more powerful packs to good use so I can see the copias being more important for the Arc5.

I know it will not happen, but I would like to get a version for a 18500 cell. IMHO it will improve handling. But tastes are different.
 
Chop made me a 2X123 battery tube for my Arc4+ (not rev2).
It also works well with the Pila 168s. No switching problems at all.

I'd be interested in those too. Too bad they won't work in pairs though.

How much did that cost? Wonder if will work OK with Arc4+ Rev.2 as well?

Did have Rev1 ever any switching problems? As far as I realised they occured in Rev 2.

Got it. I understand now that they can't be run in pairs. But I do hope that the charger will have auto-sensing voltage for us over here & other parts that use 220V. Thanks Jon.

Was he talking about using 2 CR123 Li-Ion cells?
No problem with normal LiMn CR123 cells, as they should stay within the 6.5V limit.
Funny, that you call 'voltage´' 'potent'. I would interpret current as 'potent'. Or did I misunderstand that?
