Are my RCR123 damaged?

I was just running my G2 with cree drop in with two RCR123 3.7V protected batterys. When the ligth shut off I took out the batts and measured them with a voltmeter. One of the batts showed around 3.0V and the other 0.00!!

Is this ok?! What has happend? Have the battery discharged itselves all the way? Have had this happend once before(the batterys are bran new) thay have been charged and all showed 4.2V fresh of the charger, used them til they light went off, and then measured...

Am I running any risk of having a battery collaps(explode) on me? Do I dare to use it any more?

Hello FlashSpyJ,

Take your cell that measures 0 volts, place it on the charger for 2 - 5 seconds, then report back what the voltage reads.

Tom

Sounds like the low-voltage protection cut in and it just needs a little jolt to read a voltage again.

It's best not to run your batteries right down each time. Don't wait for the LV protection to work - you'll get more life out of them if they aren't fully discharged too often.

Ok! with the one that measured 0V I got approx 3V after a few seconds on the charger!

However, similar thing happened to me.

Non-protected 3.6v's, 0v on charge many times, long periods, no go.

Chucked.

Yep - sounds like your low voltage protection kicked in as it should and I guess sticking it on the charger for a few seconds is how you reset the protection circuit. Of course you also will need to charge that puppy back up.

OK! good! Dont want them to blow up or nothing! Have read some threads about that lately..

If a NON-protected Li-Ion goes down to 0 (or even below about 2.5)
you should not even try to charge it, or :poof:
