dayton oh
you have seen these before .
the common as dirt black&decker spotliter.
these are 3.6 v rechargeable and make a great luxeon mod base.
has a nice metal bulb receptical that is a good heatsink for a ls or a hot xpr bulb.
i have gotten these from free to less than a buck.
folks dump em when the nicads die from 24/7 overcharge.uses 3 sub c
i have several and have them set up with the ls pr based.i pot it in the bulb ring with jb weld for heatsinking and then run a bead of thick ca around the flange of the pr base .i set the optic in place and dip a toothpick in zip kicker to carefully apply it without getting it on the optic.use very little so the ca does not fog the optic.
if careful you can run the neg from the pr flange out of the bulb ring by not hooking it ti the pr base.route it out to your resistor to the side.
so you can just snap it on your spotliter as is.
instant incan/ls changeover.since the b&d light has a high low setup with a diode you can dim it if you want.
btw we have a big b&d dealer here and they gave me 10 of these that were going into the rbrc box.
saved him the trouble of taking them apart to recycle the dead nicads.since i have a nicad recycleing box(rbrc)he just gave them to me.

Snakebite,

Exactly which Luxeon do you use, and where is the best place to buy that Luxeon?

Pat

i use the white emitter and optic.
you can order from arc flashlight.look at the bottom of the arc ls order page.
you have to take apart the ls module but that is easy.the pr base comes from a common flashlight bulb.

another good b&d mod base is the sl2.
i used 3 4/5a cells in place of the 2 sub c it came with.
since it charges from 6vac it still charges well with the 3.6 pack.
