I was going to see if anyone can help me with some info.

1. What is the battery run time on 2x 123's before it drops out of regulation and estimated total runtime?

2. When it does drop out of regulation, does it drop by 50% or what?

Thanks, the unit I am specifically talking about is one of the new PR-T Lux III TW1K DB917's

Hi Bushman

1. With a Lux3/DB1000 on 2x123, i got well over an hour of regulation, somewhere in the region of 1hr 20min. Moonmode lasted for another hour and a half before i decided to change the batteries. It was still putting out a reasonabley useful amount of light at this point.

2. When it dropped out of regulation, to my eye it looked like the inital drop was to about 2/3rds to 1/2 of the regulated level, before gentley sloping down.

Of course, YMMV

I did some runtime tests on various McLux PR configurations and uploaded the result to my page. See the bottom of the page. Unless otherwise noted, I used Sanyo cells for the tests.

Hope this helps.

Cool kj, that's great info! Thanks! You have become a fantastic resource here on CPF!

Thank you, Don.

BTW, do you remember which bin of Luxeon III you used in your build of McLux PR-BN-DB917?

kj,

You're in luck. I started keeping some records in Excel and I just checked. It is a TV0K.

BTW, how about a run time in low level on the L1-917 when you get it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks! I updated my page to note the bin code.

L1-917 in low level!? Umm, it will take two days at least. I'm afraid that batteries in my light meter and DMM would be depleted before the light goes off... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
