I just picked up a couple of AW C cells from Lighthound for my 2C ROP. Unfortunately I didn't consider the fact that these won't fit in my WF-139 charger...:ohgeez:

I'm glad I got these ordered before they are sold out, but I don't want to spend another $50+ on a charger if possible.

Can anyone point me to a decent (safe) charger that will charge these AW C cells?

I took my 139 apart, dremeled out the top part so that the C batt would fit (made it wider), and put it back together. I have one channel that will hold an AW C cell now.

There are two screws on the back. One at the top that you can see easily, and there's another one under the label. HTH.

Hi Rich,

I suggested this charger to FILIPPO. I've used it for one month now and keep it at work to discretely charge D & C cells. It claims to charge at 1.5A.

Cheers,
Gary

Great suggestions, thanks all!

Greg G - That's an interesting approach. I would like to just have the one charger if possible. Can you still use the side you dremeled out to charge batteries of other sizes (AA, 18650, etc.)?

Gunnerboy - do you have to use magnets with that charger?

Anyone recommend a good and cheap 2 channel charger? I'd like to wire up a charger with the 2C battery holder that will allow me to charge 2 batteries at once.

Yes! I only modified one side, but I may do the other and make this a dedicated C cell charger. Yes, it will still do any battery that fit in it before, just have to be careful that the smaller battery is centered on the tabs as the channel that was there to automatically center the battery is gone.

I totally redid my 139 charger today to make it a dedicated C cell Lithium Ion charger. I bought two C cell battery holders the other day at the electronics store near me and dremeled out the body of the charger for them to fit. Then I soldered a wire to the positive side of each carrier and the positive battery contact for that channel of the charger, and another wire from the negative side of the carrier to the hole on the circuit board where the spring for the negative battery contact originally hooked into.

It works great.

I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them.

Now I have to order another charger from Lighthound to charge my 18650's.
