The things are this way:

A very small machine shop runned by a nice and skilled armenian guy, next to Barbolight factory has decreased its level of work, so he will be sadly closing for a while.

I have been talking to its owner, and he is interested in making custom projects, and this of course includes custom lights.

My goal would be to make something more similar to a cannon than to a light. Lots of lumens, and combining P7's with the reflectors we are using on U-15's and Q5's with aspherics. In order to make things simple and reliable we would be using the light engines we are using on our flashlights, so, no fancy electronics, dimmings, multimodes, and so on.

This is not going to be cheap, but... I'll keep you informed.

Anyway, "Kraken projects" is about special things that probably would never be regular production items sold through regular distribution channels, but "one of a kind" lights made for special customers. It could be a superthrower, or a superflooder for video...

Ok, interesting Javier....

I will begin to think about what i would prefer, maybe a barbobank  ?? A lot of Q5 aspherics for me would be good, the king of the throw...

Give me time to think about it carefully , and the final price will be the most important too...

A thrower is always more "cool". Even if you don't have idea about flashlights you always get impressed by throwers. Now, here is the question: What do you want to beat?

According to my tests you will need 7 Q5's to beat a 24 Watt HID. Do you want to go for the major league? 35 Watt HID? That is going to be like 12 Q5s.

What form factor would you like? Something exotic?

I always wanted to make something like a futuristic "Rocket launcher"

What do you think?

In adition for a real -real thrower you are going to need something like a telescopic sight, because they can throw more than your eyes.

Personally I'd love a shoulder carried flashlight.
I do like the multi aspheric idea. So what if we took the over the shoulder design and put 9 moderately sized aspherics in there arranged in a simple 3x3 square for that "rocket launcher" look. Now if we used more complex optics we could put MC-E's or Ostars or some more exotic emitter behind them and still get the beam almost as tight as what can be done with XR-Es.

I've always been interested in a light that provides a wall of light, (perhaps using MCE's) AND also some R2's or Q5's using aspheric optics for throw. I wonder if it's even possible.....

The renders you can see on this thread are more a real product than a "Kraken project". It is the "Old painless" brought to reality. There is a thread about it, but anyway as you can see is light big enough to be carried with a shoulder strap.

It is designed to accomodate 12 LEDs and aspherics, and designed for the same purposes a 35 Watt HID light, but with better reliability and more compact.
