I'm a rookie, but beginning to get some knowledge about lamps and flashlights. However, i'm lost about batteries.
Let's say you're making a flashlight with a 6V lamp...then you could choose between two 3V lithiums, four 1.5V alkalines or a single 6V lantern battery right? Or are there any other considerations in addtion to the lamp's voltage?

On Energizer's websites i noticed a huge 6V lantern battery with 52000 mAh. Could you use this just as much as four AA 1.5V alkalines with 2850 mAh when powering a 6V lamp? I have the feeling that you can't, but why not?
 
As you add more and more load the voltage at the batteries will drop. Say you have a .5 amp load on 4 AA batteries the voltage will be about 5.5v and at .25 amp you get about 5.8v. So as you add more load the voltage drops. You can really see this in the new surge, it uses 2 sets of 4 AA's in parallel. With one set you get .9a @ 4.8v, with all 8 you get 1.1a @ 5.35v. Hope this helps.
