battery discharging

is there a way to manually discharge batteries ?

One way is to use a charger that has a refresh or conditioning mode. You could also use the device to drain the cells down (until the device shuts off) then charge them back up again. I prefer the former method.

a resistor with the proper value and rating can also be used. you'll have to monitor battery voltage though is it can severly disharge a batt.
