I understand that many people begin their mods with a bulb or an led they want to use, then pick the batteries as required, then pick the body to fit the batteries. I'm going the other direction - I have a few various-sized Mag Cs lying around and I wanted to organize my options for batteries. This then gives me constraints for bulbs. So, I came up with this chart.
A couple of notes:
1. The AW cells win in pretty much every aspect I have listed. I don't think anybody needed this table to know that. I grayed them out because the comparison is pretty boring if you include them, and because I'm not interested in expensive cells that have even a remote possibility of setting my house on fire or exploding in my kid's hand.
2. I know there is some considerable variation within each chemistry type. I tried to pick representative cells – please refer to the various brand shootout threads for more info about that. I'm just looking to compare the options on a ballpark level.
3. I may have used unusual units for the various quantities. I believe they're correct, but I don't know if they're non-standard – please let me know.
4. I stuck to "C"-sized cells. Listing all of the possible combinations is beyond my knowledge and interests.
That said, I'm sure there are some errors and omissions in there – don't be shy with the corrections or suggestions!
