Is the Battery Station RCR123A really different than everyone elses 3.0v RCR123A, or is a matter of semantics. (i.e. which "voltage" spec they wish to list).

They are different types of Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) rechargeable cell. Neither type should be considered interchangeable with 3.0v Lithium primary (non-rechargeable) cells.

If you are intending to use Li-Ion rechargeables, I would suggest you get AW protected Li-ion cells, which are good value and highly recommended.
