That is the question. :sssh: Purely subjective but I am curious as the next. Which do you prefer on your Haiku?

I have only held the Shiny so I might be a bit biased but my eyes can sure appreciate both.

I have only the shiny one also but I do like the contrast the BB offers but I have had a few knives with a BB handle and I think they tend to get dirty quicker than a satin finish handle it also depends on the BB finish how rough it is. I will stay with the what I call the satin or machined finish.

Have 'em both - love 'em both. The BB is more beautiful to look at, IMHO, but I prefer to USE the shiny - it cleans up so nicely. I've never scratched a BB, but I assume that the shiny would be easier to restore to 'like new' condition....

Just my opinion ;)

What Dan said... I do really love the BB though, gives the light a whole different personality, IMHO. :grin2:

I don't own any Haikus but since the title says BB or shiny, all I can talk about is my two LS20s (I know, poor me, right?). I actually carry my BB LS20. My shiny one has duty around the house every night while my LS20 lives in my pants pocket. I have other lights laying around the house, but usually I use them to navigate to the room where my shiny is. The shiny one obviously doesn't have many scratches on it and the BB only has scratches on the few shiny parts of the otherwise bead-blasted PD sleeve. The heads are identical externally.

I love them both and use them both daily. I carry the BB because I know it's only one of four Don put out so I want to use it more than any other light I own. Very exciting!

I received a Haiku shortly after a TiPD-S - mistake for me and I never gave the Haiku a chance as I loved the PD.

A few months later the BB came out and I was able to jump on it. It is in my EDC rotation and will certainly remain there.

If you could only have one, there's really not much reason to not spring the extra for the BB unless you just don't like the look. After all, if it really gets scratched up, you can always sand and polish it to the shiny version, though on the Haiku it looks like it'd still have the recessed parts bead blasted. Now THAT would be a unique look as well! lovecpf

If the BB version were available when I got my light, I would have DEFINITELY gone with BB. Way easier to grip with wet hands. More practical in my mind.

I prefer the finish on my PD-S. It's pretty easy to achieve. Put it in your pocket for several years. Pay no attention to what else is in the pocket at any given moment. Toss the light around like it's a tool. A thousand days or so, and you too can have a light with a finish that's all yours that has some real personality!

Yep, nothing better than the "PD Patina" :)

:hitit:

I would go for bare Ti finish.
I can apply BB whenever I want.
But the retrograde is  ...

I went for the BB 'cause the contrast between BB and shiny was irresistible.
So irresistible that I just had to get out the Autosol and polish the shiny bits really shiny. I also polished the outside ring by the switch to increase the contrast on the back end. <embarrassed grin>
