Best 18650 battery for my FIRST real flashlight?

After extensive reading and research I am about to purchase my first real flashlight, a T100C2 MKII.

What is the best protected 18650 cell to run in this flashlight?

Considering the AW-139 charger unless there is anything better around the $20 mark. I really don't want to spend the same/more on the charger than i did on the light itself (no Pila chargers).

Thanks guys!

I can only provide feedback on the cells I use.

The AW 2200 mAh and the 2400 mAh Black Trustfire work very well in my 18650 lights (lights have a maximum 1 amp current draw on high).

I use the Yoho-122 charger available from Battery Station for $9.00.

Does the Trustfire run your light any longer than the AW?

I runs for an additional 18 minutes on high.

If your light could work with the AW 2600 mAh 18650, you would get even more runtime.
The AW 2600 mAh cell does not have a button top, so that might limit whether it would work in your particular light.

yeah, what's up with AW cells? Do they have more capacity or can they handle more current or something compared to the regular run-of-the-mill blue *****fires?

If they can handle more current, they wouldn't be that useful for a regulated light if the regulated circuit already provides max current? I have a light with a 1A driver. Any 18650 should be able to put out 1A easily, right?

EagleTac T100C2 MKII + EagleTac 18650 = "live happily ever after"... :twothumbs
Thanks for the suggestion!

I just pulled the trigger!! T100C2 MKII + 2x EagleTac 18650's + AW-139 charger + USPS Priority shipping = $85.91!!! lovecpf :naughty: :twothumbs

EagleTac store is only about 600 miles from me so hopefully between it being close and the faster shipping it gets here by Saturday! :D

I would have suggested the Yoho charger as well instead of the WF-139 (or whatever they are calling it these days), which seems to be a pretty mediocre charger. It is unclear if it actually uses a CC/CV charging algorithm, and if it terminates charge properly.

I may still get it and sell the WF-139.

Anyone know if these cells come with much of a charge or should i do a complete charge before using them?

Another YOHO-122 suggestion.... Burn the WF-139 in an incinerator.. Or see if the folks who sold it might be willing to take it back... I'd prefer it if it wasn't re-sold cause then there's just yet another CPFer out there using this dangerous charger.

I also would have suggested just grabbing the EagleTac brand cells since they are convenient to order with an eagletac product and seem to be a good price/performance point with a name behind them that you can go to if you have problems. (when an ultrafire explodes.... who are you going to call?)

Where can one find both AW 18650 2600 cells and a good ($25-$40) charger? By "good charger" I mean one that will properly charge a pair of 18650s at a time, overnight is fine. I've one of Moddoo's triple R2 drop-in's on the way for my Surefire C3 Centurion. I'm considering a 2x18650 body to get into the rechargeable li-ion realm.

Thanks in advance.

You could save up a little more and get a pila , they are like an investment. If you are tight on budget get a yoho-122. Alot of cheap chargers tend to overcharge cells, which means they will wear out faster from the overcharge.
Safety always comes first when it comes to Li-co cells. And i would not charge a li-ion unattended no matter using what charger, things could always go wrong even when using the best charger.

Try this. It doesn't show a name for it but supposedly it is a YOHO-122 as claimed here. It's $9.00 + $6.95 for USPS Priority shipping.

I bought a few EagleTac 2400's when i ordered my flashlight.

Thank You VERY Much! My preference, whether disposable income is abundant or nearly non-existent, is to "Spend Well, Spend Once." If the consensus, or even the general preference, of CPFers is to never charge li-ions unattendend, no matter how fine the charger, then for me a high quality charger and batteries are the "minimal point of entry".

And thanks to you to Elwood. {Just in case you are 'that' Elwood, I've placed a delivery order at a restaurant proximal to you for dry toast :laughing:. Enjoy!}
