What are the best cells for a Fenix L2d Q5?
I was reading in the LED forum and it said "the L2D requires NiMH cells for the best performance. Right now I am using alkaline batteries.

So, stupid question here but, What are NiMH batteries? Should I get some? And where do I get them?
Thanks!

Hello Tiny,

NiMh stands for Nickel Metal Hydride.

You can check out the sticky thread at the top of this section with threads of interest. In there you will find a link to the NiMh shoot out. It will give you some idea of how well some of these cells work under differing loads.

A good battery reference to check out would be www.batteryuniverse.com .

NiMh are rechargeable batteries.

Also, check out Energizer e2 Lithium (aka L91).

You can also buy NiMH batteries and charger at Walmart, Target, etc.

My L2D eats Eneloops, but any NiMH would do.

Edit: alkalines work just fine, as to the Energizer e2 lithiums, as do NiMH. I happen to like rechargeables, but its all good so don't sweat it.

These days, I wouldn't recommend anything other than LSD (Low Self Discharge) NiMH batteries. Sanyos Eneloop cells were the pioneers, but now there are similar products from Kodak, Duracell, GP, Varta, ....
Since these cells have good capacity, are inexpensive, perform well under heavy current draws and in cold conditions, use safe and environmentally OK chemistry, and hold their charge there really is little reason to use anything else.
Finally.

Since I don't use my AA/AAA Fenix lights daily, I use eneloop cells in all of them and have had great results.
