Hi guys,

I am new here and just bought a cheapo ultrafire C3 2xAA on DealExtreme because I heard they were great for the money. Anyhow, I will only use the light on very rare occasions...just for when the power goes out etc, so it will be sitting in a drawer 95% of the time, so I think I need batteries that are good to be stored for a long time (won't lose too much power or leak etc). At the same time I don't want to compormise too much light output. What would be my best option?

Thanks!

One of the LSD (low self discharge) batteries would be good for that scenario.

Eneloop, white top Duracell Pre-Charged, Rayovac Hybrid or Rayovac 4.0.

So, rechargeables are the way to go? For some reason I assumed that rechargeable batteries would actually lose power quicker when sitting, but I guess not.

Anyhow, which of the above are the best & any links on where to buy? Also what charger should I get?

Thanks again.

Thanks, I'll take a look at the link. In the meantime, What about this Eneloop kit that comes with a charger.

...or is the charger crap?

PS-one more thing, and this is probably a silly question to you guys, but is the fact that it's "low discharge" mean that it doesn't mean it put out as much power when the flashlight is turned on?

That combo should work for you well, lsd means that if you charge the cells and let them sit it doesnt discharge like a regular nimh does. So if you dont use the batts they will still be able to power up a device there being put in.

Thats great...80% after sitting 2 years, thats what I was looking for. Thanls for your help guys.

For the record I went ahead and ordered the Eneloop power pack (found it cheaper than the above link) plus an additional 4 AAA eneloops (for a Smith & Wesson cree Flashlight) for a total of $46 including shipping.
