O hi O
What are the most sought after bin codes...Give me a top 3 list! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/str.gif

LuxIII:
T-bin with a J-flux and the color bin of your liking

LuxV:
W-bin with a T-flux
if you really want the jack-pot: X-bin

bernhard

EDIT because of major stupidity /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif : replace all the "-flux" with "Vin"
I'll leave the BS in this post as a reminder ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

Umm, may I ask what you plan to do with that many LEDs? I can't imagine what that would cost. Was this a Christmas gift? Are both of you flasholohics?

Luxeon I
Unobtainable : R3H or RxxH (very few exist, no more are made since the introduction of the Luxeon III)
Realistic : QxxH

Luxeon III
Unobtainable : UxxH (very few exist)
Realistic : TxxH

Luxeon V portable
Unobtainable : X3T (few exist, no more are made)
Realistic : WxxS (T Vf is a bit more likely)

The direct-drive fanatics can file their complaints about my low-Vf selections at their nearest roundfile; low Vf + high flux == super efficiency.

Very well summed-up, Idle!

TWOJ's have been showing up in quantity lately, but I am curious as to "no more are made" for the Lux V portable? Have they ceased manufacture of LuxV's or were the X3T's just a fluke like the few Lux III U's? (some of which I hear, failed to meet expectations.)

Noone has seen an X-bin 5W portable with the current binning structure; they all feature the bin structure of 1-2 years ago. The best theory I've heard also supports the lack of R-bin Lux Is - premium dies are going into Lux IIIs.

It's possible that Lumileds turns out these obscene bins and keeps them as golden samples to improve their processes; or perhaps they sell them at a premium to customers; or maybe they just diappear into Future's distribution network, destined for volume customers willing to pay a premium.

Personally, I suspect that the release of X-bin 5W emitters was in error. U-bin 3W emitters seem to have been a case of mislabeling, since the modder that had them reported substantially better results from some high-performing T-bins. R-bin 1W emitters were a reality - they seem to be the most numerous "unobtanium" bins.

Looks like the best, easily available bins at this date and time are:

5 watt-VV1T from member photonfanatic in the bst lights forum.

3 watt-TWOJ again from photonfanatic if you want bare osinkable, or hotlipsable bare emitters.
Klaus has the star version TWOJ for your Nuwai q3's

1 watt-QWOH from member Lambda.
This is a premium 1 watt to say the least.

W-bin 5W emitters turn up in B/S/T & Group buys from time to time.

I snagged a TxxH 3W emitter not too long ago on B/S/T from... I forget. It seemed like something I wasn't going to see again - I need to do something useful with it.

Let me know, I may think of something.
A georges80 nflex, a fivemega 8aa-2d, this could get fun. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
