Just wondering which flashlight is the best in your opinion if you have an unlimited budget.

I'd go for the Thor 10MCP spotlight. I'd use some of my unlimited budget to hire someone to carry it for me.

No seriously! =P Something that you can hide in your pocket without any "what's inside your pants" jokes.

1AA 1W-LED, the run time will be an issue.

The this pocket Led too.

The Fire~Fly is amazingly compact and has surprising output for something so small. I hear the same about the Jets22 Blackbird.

There was a short-run custom light that went by the lith-ion cell size - Li14330 or something like that - that was disgustingly capable and tiny.

The Arc AAA is great for a keychain.

I've found that the CMG/Gerber Infinity can usually be pocketed without too much, uh, bulge.

The Li14430 is the nicest light I've ever seen, and is out of reach of budgets. None were sold as far as I know (they were distributed to a handful of serious modders and collectors), and I expect the people who have them wouldn't part with them for any amount of money.

Do you want flood or throw? Runtime or brightness? Are you EDC'ing in dress pants, jeans or cargos? Sorry to be a grouch, but when you ask people for help, you should at least be willing to spend a little time to explain what you're looking for. There is no single "best EDC" for everyone.

Okay, how about in the style of James Bond? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Currently in my possession? Fire~Fly II no question.

Obtainability no object? Any of the lights Larry (tvodrd) is putting out. Much smaller than an Arc AAA, 2 stage switch, flawless workmanship, and lighter than a feather. Really amazing lights.

The best EDC is the one always on your person, always works and has enough brightness/runtime to take care of your needs.

My EDC is Li14430, but my back light of choice is still ARC AAA-P.

I agree with cy in that the best EDC light is indeed the one that you will always have with you, even when you don't expect to use it. In that light, I have carried a Photon (different models) for the last four years on my keyring (smaller than ARC AAA but just as useful). For in pants, where size really does matter, I have carried an ARC LS and then a ARC4. When the firefly came out, I started to carry one of them and it is still my EDC (FFII with 2 way switch). When I get my hands on a CR2 light, it will then take over for the firefly.

Obviously some folks have bigger pockets than mine to fill and can get away with carrying a small howitzer. But for me, and I think most folks, discretion is still necessary when it comes to an EDC.

But one has to consider the practicality of having such a big light in your pockets (LionHeart). I mean, I keep my wallet, a set of keys, a cellphone, and a pack of gum in my pockets.. and they BULGE out already.

Become a true geek like a few folks here. Get a pouch for your belt or an EDC gear bag. E1e's will lit in a large SAK (Swiss Army Knife) sheath. Bigger lights will fit in sheaths made for them or from Nite-Ize, Ripp-Offs, etc. If the light won't fit, the rest of the stuff in your pockets should, and that will solve the problem. Plus you can carry extra batteries. So, you can EDC bigger, better, and more lights in the true CPF tradition.

You will of course need to buy more lights to fill the pouch and/or bag.
