Any recommendations for the best glow sheeting (to cut out stars and planets for the kids ceiling /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/sleepy.gif) or plastic glow tape?

Thanks in advance! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Chris, I've seen 8.5x11" printable sheets of self-adhesive glow paper at a few office supply stores and craft shops. Look in the specialty papers area. It might be cool to put these sheets into an inkjet printer and print some things like smiling man-in-the-moon faces or cartoon characters onto them.

About a year or so ago, I purchased a packet of glow sheets from either an office supply or craft-type store, and was really disappointed in how dim and short-lived the glow was. If I remember correctly, Alien Skin is a thick sheet material that glows brightly, and for a long time. I think it is also very expensive, though.

As a compromise, you might want to consider getting some glow paint or glow powder and painting whatever shapes/pieces you want to use. The high quality stuff can be really bright, and is available in different colors for extra creativity.

Vcal is the CPF authority on glow stuff, so you might want to ask him. You could also do a search on this board for threads regarding glow powder, etc. for further information.

www.extremeglow.com is supposed to have an improved cut, peel, and stick vinyl sheeting available now. It's available by the linear foot..-about $3.-U.S. It utilizes strontium aluminate for a long glow time.
-See Quickbeam's site for info.

Don't waste your time or money by fooling around with any of the short glow zinc sulfide kid stuff.

Extremeglow is the shiznits! I called them and they were very informative. The "vinyl" sheets can be used as exit signs they are so bright....I havent put them on the floor, although they could be, as I understand it. They are weather proof. I got a 5 foot roll. The stuff is amazing. It glows brightly and will continue to glow well all night. A 8x11 piece will light up a room. Curiously, squeezing it,or pinching it will boost the glow. Good stuff.

Search for my postings, I posted the details of a company that will give you different types of sheeting/ self adhesive tape. Different types/thicknesses, you tell him what you want and he'll see what he can do.

Very helpful and I think the cost was competetive. The company was called theindigoedge.com

Hope this helps. The stuff seems to be the really extreme glowing stuff. It still puts out light (very faintly) after 36+hrs. A small piece with black backing can be used as a good night light for nocturnal wanderings.

Hope this helps, post your opinions if you do use this company.

vcal, Mr. Blue, PeterW,

Thanks for your input! Does anyone have both the Extremeglow and Indigo Edge sheeting to compare. The Extreme glow sheeting cheaper but there is the minimum order of $25 plus shipping. Idiglo Edge has a nice package of sheets and tape but shipping to the US from the UK adds quite a bit to the cost.

Thanks again for 2 great sources!

indigoedge is located in your neck of the woods (USA).... it cost ME extra money to get the stuff to the UK, so it ought to be cheaper for you guys in the US, send Chris Nolan an email with your request!

Cheers

I sent Chris Nolan an email (the item description sounded like shipping was included but then $12 was added at checkout!?).

Thanks for the advice /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
