Hoping for a quick reply... Where/what is the best web site to buy a Dereelight CL1H? and which model? (I like the two mode one at the moment).

Unless someone can chime in with something easier, you can buy directly from http://www.dereelight.com/

Just send paypal for the items you want.

I would then suggest sending Alan (Dereelight Sales Contact) a PM to confirm the details of the transaction, his name is Dereelight. Keep in mind he is in China and will respond while most of us are sleeping in the US.

Whelp, that's what i get for opening a post and not reading it for 20 minutes.... sorry for the duplicate answer.

I have a DBS V2 with the three stage digital model (3SD) and I love it. Personally, I do not need the infinite adjustability and prefer the simplicity and speed of a two or three stage model. Just my two cents.

The cool thing about the Dereelights(CL1H,DBS, and DBS V2) is that all you change is the pill to get the different versions. So when you want to upgrade you just buy a new pill(~ $30.00), not a whole new light. I like the 3SD pill best personally. All the digital pills have a max input voltage of 4.2v, so only use an 18650 or 17670 battery. They have M series pills for higher input voltages(2 CR123s, 2 RCR123s). Alan is a Great guy to deal with.

Re: Best Place to buy a Dereelight?

Lightwalker, Edjusted, Thanks for the quick answer. Edj, I will PM Alan after the paypal thing goes through. thanks. Steve L, Fortunately the charger is already here, with 18650's on the way. I could not figure out how to buy in the AW sales thread, so found charger & batteries at LightHound.. they
were good to their word. Nice batteries. Wade thanks I am going for the two mode job.

Does anybody hear about a Dereelight R2 pill in the future? Maybe when they figure out just how much current is actually safe, like when they upped the Vf of the Q5 from 750mHh to 1000?

Re: Best Place to buy a Dereelight?

Dereelight had some Cree R2 WH's, but they have sold out. So far Dereelight hasn't been able to get more (I check in with Alan from time to time), but they hope to get more someday.

I'd like to pick up another R2 WH pill or two, I really like the WH tint.

Re: Best Place to buy a Dereelight?

Buy directly from DereeLight! They sell all of their products online and ship EMS. My last order arrived by EMS in only four days, and DereeLight paid my shipping. You won't find much quicker service from a dealer in the USA.

It's a great light with the 3SD and when you change from SM to OP the difference is quite noticeable.

It's my EDC and to say that I like it, is an understatement.

I found Alan great to deal with as well.

Enjoy

Re: Best Place to buy a Dereelight?

When I decided to buy a Dereelight, it was because it is so well designed. Modular parts leads to longer usefulness. But I was under the assumption that it was designed and built in the good old USA. When it comes from China, it must be made in China. So China can design and make really good stuff too. I am looking forward to putting it to use at work.

I have an UltraFire Alpha-C1 Cree (XR-E P4 equipped I think) Flashlight with AW 18650's coming as well as a couple of SolarForce with the new R2 equipped L2's. Hoping they prove useful in night work illuminating dark objects at high speed.. Occasionally one or two seconds additional warning/reaction time can make a difference. Good spill is essential for a useful flashlight.

Re: Best Place to buy a Dereelight? It's Here and Working!

Sort of a big day- three lights arrived today:
A DX UltraFire Alpha C-1 1-mode with batteries,
a SolarForce R2-equipped L2 model in Desert color,
and the Dereelight Q5-equipped 2-mode with smooth and OP reflectors.

Disassembly was first on the agenda, with cleaning, dielectric grease applied, and all parts examined.

My UltraFire charger has been going full tilt ever since, charging a batch of 17670's, 18650's and AW rcr123a's. Now all three lights are working as expected. I am not disappointed in any of them. All three work as advertised and that is a relief. Some lights reportedly arrive so screwed up...The Dereelight Q5 OP-equipped is only slightly brighter than the SolarForce R2 L2 in the beam and spill. Only noticeable when compared side by side, the Dereelight has a wider, brighter spill, slightly narrower beam. Beam shots would be a practical waste of time in my view. Other members are better at that sort of thing anyway.

The UltraFire Alpha C-1 is a great flashlight. I liked it from the first time I saw it on DX. Had to have one, a single mode if you please. Equilpped with a P4 bin emitter, it is behind in all comparisions with the Dereelight and SolarForce. But, it is a great light just the same- feels like a real workhorse, ready to take a steady beating of vibration, use and abuse. Did I mention I like the shape? lol. that square body feels good, although the Dereelight is clearly the winner in all counts.

Just tried the AW rcr123a's in the SolarForce as it is reported to get brighter with more voltage. So 8.4v. vs. 4.2 in the Dereelight still confirms that the Dereelight is slightly brighter, and as well apparently superior in every other way. This says to me that muscle does count. The Solarforce has the what should be the brighter bin emitter and with, say, average quality and conventional mass production design it is probably a light to contend with. But, the Dereelight quality design wins out. Someone more experienced than i said that a light is the sum of it's design and parts, not just an emitter. I can see this is true. I look forward to getting better aquainted with all three.

Re: Best Place to buy a Dereelight? It's Here and Working!

The Dereelight designed their circuit to be optimized with the 18650. It ensure the proper voltage and current is supplied to the Q5, even if the Q5 (or R2) has a higher Vf.

THe Solarforce's circuit probably isn't as advanced, and seems to accept a wider input voltage, and it may not output as much voltage, or current, as the Dereelight circuit. So even if the Solarforce uses a R2, if it's only getting 800-900mA of current to it, the Q5 in the Dereelight getting 1200mA of current will be brighter.

Whoa.. the Dereelight is running at 1.2 amps?!! I didn't know that. When you add up the better glass, better reflector, better pill and hard driven emitter, it's easy to be happy with the Dereelight.

I thought Q5's were limited to 1.0 amps at most.. Way to go Dereelight.

I think some CPF'ers are pushing Cree's to 1.8-2 amps. :) They have to be well heat sinked, and they may not be able to run them for long at that current.

1.2A seems okay as long as it has good heat sinking, which the Dereelights seem to have.

I'm one of the ones running the Crees at 1.8-2 amps.:naughty: I have an R2 soldered down to solid copper in my DEFT and it runs REALLY well. Even after running it for 5 minutes if you immediately touch the led after turning it off its merely warm. I have the same setup in a DX "super thrower" except the R2 is on a star and AA paste is in between the star and pill. This one does not fair as well. The tint starts to shift as it heats up as it doesn't have nearly as good a thermal path.
Moral of the story. The Cree XREs are VERY durable as long as you have a thermal path that can keep up with the heat put out at a given drive level. The DBS' thermal path is probably good for about 1.5-1.6.
