hi,
I'm about to purchase a Fenix LD01 and need some good rechargeable AAA batteries and a good charger.

The batteries i can source easily are
GP 1000 NiMH AAA, Duracell Supreme AAA and Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAA. Is there a big difference between these or will either of these do?

And any advice on a good charger?

thank you

What country you in?

If you are here in the states, stop by walmart and buy some of the white topped duracell precharged Rechargeable. They are a little more expensive than regular rechargeable, but they are eneloops, repackaged as duracell.

thanks but im in the UK. Would you recommend getting Eneloops over the other batteries i posted?

cheers

Re: Be Very Careful!!!!

I cant be sure without actually seeing the batteries you listed, BUT>>>>>

I am pretty confident in saying the Energizer Ultimate Lithiums are NOT rechargable!! Be Careful about battery chemistry, or :poof:, someone could be severely injured.

That being said, I too suggest the Eneloops or White topped Duracell Precharged rechargeables (rebranded eneloops).

Kodak also makes a Low Self Discharge (LSD) cell that comes Precharged, I use these in lots of single cell applications and they work fine, little cheaper too.

Lots of people around here use eneloops with good success, eneloops tend to perform better under a high load (less voltage sag) than the cheaper cells.

As for a charger, a quick look through the battery section would be more informative than I will be. I use a cheap one from walmart. It works fine but some will say the the low charge rate is bad for the batteries. I dont know, Im not that smart......... :)

Cheers

The Ultimate lithiums are not rechargeable.

I cannot speak to the quality of the duracell supreme or the GP rechargeables.

I do know the eneloops have very low self discharge so if you don't use your light constantly you have power when you need it. Eneloops are top of the line rechargables. 85% retention after 1 year.

hi,
... need some good rechargeable AAA batteries ...

GP 1000 NiMH AAA,
Duracell Supreme AAA and

Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAA

...

OMG!

Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAA is NOT rechargeable !!! :shakehead It's single use, throw away after.

Gxd dxmmxt !!! You trying to kill yourself ??? :scowl:

Recharging an Energizer Ultimate Lithium can make you go :poof:

How come we keep on getting people who think all Lithiums are rechargeable?

It's cuz' they don't know the difference between Lithium, and Lithium-Ion.

I betcha for every one we find out about here on CPF, there must be 10 incidents out there where people charge primary Lithiums and :poof: we here on CPF don't hear about.
