Doh! And I missed it. Blasted time zones.

Well, if it scared this lot it must have been impressive.

Of course, for other ways to stick an Arc AAA on your head, look for my patented Dork Cap method..
Hmm, maybe I could skip the cap and just stick some velcro to the side of my head..

What did I miss? Did McGizmo have an Eternalight up his nose?? What?!?

OUCH!!!! That would realy hurt.

Back to the original question I have a piece of tubing on the end of my Arc AAA and my Infinity (different sizes). I got them off-the-shelf at a True-Value Hardware store so I assume not an odd-ball size. At my small town store they sell it in fractions of a foot so I got a twelfth of each and together it cost less than $.25. Not a bad price for a low tech mod.

Maybe if I stuck a strong magnet on the tail of my soon-to-be AAA it would stick to my braces

That would only work until I have straight teeth though

Why don't you get out those clamps that you used on the "Freelight Project" again? Just be real careful not to tighten them up too much ...

I tried to reuse a large document clip to secure my LE to something on my head but - despite many compliments - my ear lobes just got too painful after a while.

Hey darell,
A few(actually about 20 or so tangent) posts ago you mentioned a KYDEX sheath for $9.
Just wondering what this is,what it looks like, where I can view a picture of one, where I can buy one, and what size or model # will fit the AAA?
Thanks for the time and input.
Steelhead

Thanks WITSEND for the on topic reply.
Just wondering what type of tubing? Clear or opaque? Soft like surgical tubing/rubber bands or harder like aquarium tubing?
Thanks again.

Yeah sorry. I've got some good information every once in a while, but sometimes you've got to use your hip waders to find it. In my defence, I DID post the idea ON TOPIC near the top of the thread. It was those other guys that dragged me off...

Here's what you need to know: Go to this page: http://www.mnsi.net/~nbtnoel/products.htm and scroll to the bottom where it says "micro rigs" There you'll see the Arc AAA listed for $9.

Here are some pictures from my personal collection (some submitted to me by others):

Have I redeemed myself?

Which picture was this?!?

Was it the one with the bottle of cat urine remover?

And I missed the picture that McGizmo posted, darn.

I'm not sure exactly, just general pupose. Clear. Soft, it has a little stretch and you need a little for the Infinity.
The idea of putting it on the other(light)end opens up more ideas than my wimpy light sabre mod.

Hello Steelhead,

I reckon I owe you a post, ON TOPIC:

bite-arc.jpg

A mouth piece from CamelBack hydration system makes a pretty good bite sleeve, IMHO.

It is a bear to get on the first time but I suspect that it would relax after a while and be willing to go on and off easier. It also looks like you could punch a hole through the silicone and add a split ring that would retain the "Bite Bulb" as well as allow for lanyard or key ring attachment.

Incidentally, Arc body shown was a stock body that I turned the knurl off on the lathe and then buffed on buffing wheel. There is some knurl pattern left. Shiny Al is nice looking and since Peter mentioned the idea of a smoother body for wearing around neck, I wonder if you should combine your clear Arc with a significantly reduced knurl or possibly none at all. If the head was knurled, I don't think the body needs it.

BTW, I'll try to avoid going off topic in your posts in the future....... but the devil made me do it

Ay Caramba!

Why must you people torture me so.....

I come here to see what's new with led's and flashlights...and end up laughing at all the silly posts!

Darell, McGizmo, and everyone else...you're all EVIL!

Ugh....you guys are funny.

Steelhead,
The common soft thick tubeing you're looking for can be found in most hardware stores as vinyl tubeing.

Craig,
The picture was the one of you where you superimposed a powered up LS in the center of your forehead. TX

Tripod function added to Bite Sleeve:

Triangular Quick Link also provides protective cage and atttachment point:

Surgical or Silicone tubing should work as well.

I found some 1/2" dia. heat shrink tubing at Home Depot that works great. I wanted a thin but durable bite sleeve. Multiple layers could be added to make it thicker. The black color looks good on my LE. By the way, Radio Shack sells h.s. tubing but not in a large enough dia. Hope this helps someone.
