Well after seeing how funny and easy it was to amuse my little Chihuahua, Lily, with a cheap little laser pointer I bought for my nephew, I decided I must get one for myself. Well I couldn't just settle for a run-of-the-mill 670nm or even 650nm laser pointer sooooo........ 635.

Any testimonies on brightness compared to the 650's and 670's???
Anyone else got a 635nm red?

One of these days I might pick up a greenie to really show off, but for right now, I hope my 635 red will do.

Re: Suggestions on Red laser?????

I don't have a suggestions for a replacement Laser pointer.

But if your worried about being stuck with a bunch of AAAA batteries, these will fit in a Streamlight Stylus Led light.

Yup, right from the link you provided. There were 84 available when I got there, and 83 available when I left.

yeah, that guy seems pretty serious about providing the "real thing" and his feedback is impeccable!

hey, here's a very informative website on laser pointers:

Thanks for the link!

I just ordered two cheap, well made (solid brass) keychain lasers.

I was looking for a good inexpensive laser!

Here we go again!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif CPF is dangerous to my wallet! When I saw that Craig bought one, I had to go look at the posting myself, then I bought one - so now there are 81 left.

I bought one of his Green 5mW about 3 weeks ago. It was very good (sharp spot, excellent brightness-love a laser you can SEE the beam) for about 20 minutes, then the light output dropped quite dramatically.

However, his customer service is excellent and I've got another two on the way to me now,a replacement and another for a friend (the price was too good- $80!). They seem to be the same brand others are selling for up to $140 'un-modded'.

Cheers, Brandon.

oops! sorry /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

well folks, i got mine this morning, Saturday! i think you guys who ordered one as well are in for a pretty pleasant suprise! it comes very nicely packaged in the hard plastic case which inside a cardboard sleeve. the plastic case stays shut like it's supposed to and is very sturdy. the laster itself looks VERY nice especially with the dark grey/pewter body! my only thing is that i wish the trim was silver instead of gold /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif but it still looks nice. the body is pretty sturdy. now im no laser expert but i must say that this is the most powerful laser pointer i've encountered so far! in broad daylight(little overcast) i could pretty easily see the beam 50+ yds away! can't wait til dark, uhhhhh wait a minute..........it is dark now, gotta go...........

Well, I should get mine Monday or Tuesday, so I'll be able to tell you more about it then.
It's coming from eastern Washington, and I'm in western Washington, so I ought to get it pretty quick. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Just got mine today... I was leery of the deal but it is great. Nice plastic box, very solid feel to the pointer and heavier than you would think-but I like a heavier, solid device as opposed to lighter and feeling chintzy.

It is quite bright, very focused and I am sure Lucy (my black Lab and primary therapist) will love it. Most important: It shipped fast. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Craig, I'm sure you'll thumbs-up this one.

As soon as I receive it, I'll post here, that's for sure. And I'll put it on my website too, as time permits. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I just got my 635nm red laser pointer, and yes, it really is all it's cracked up to be. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It runs on 2 AAA cells, button (+) end facing outward. This is how the green laser pointers I've used are loaded, so no surprise there.

It draws 41mA from the batteries that come with it (measured on the 2A scale to help minimise shunt resistance error yet still allow a 1mA resolution).

The beam is nicely formed, though slightly off-center from the barrel of the laser pointer. (I would consider this a normal charactistic for any laser pointer, and not a defect).

I can't yet test its range because the sun's still up. But I did shoot it into an alcove across the street, and the spot showed up in it. So at night I should be able to put the spot on an uninhabited roof section of a building just under a mile away (the farthest "target" I can shoot), and see it on there without "cheating" with binoculars or a telescope. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wavelength appears to be around 638nm, which is right on for this kind of diode (they can vary from 635nm to 640nm).
My spectrometer's broken, so I can't test it that way; just by eye like everyone else here.
