I picked up a FENIX PD30 R4 flashlight to go with my Glock as a tool. Just wondering if the reliability and durability of the flashlight suits this role?

For info that might gives you an idea for your question read post # 1 and after post # 2 on this thread :

I like very much my Fenix PD30 XP-G R4 very nice design and attractive but I had to remove the clip because it is useless - very difficult to use.

But as you will find in the following thread, the 4Sevens Quark 123² XP-G R5 is more useful to me for many and some important reasons.

Yes you did well on the Fenix brand, have no idea using it on a Glock as here in the UK we are not allowed small arms at all.But as a brand Fenix are well loved and my next light looks like it is going to be another Fenix.

Hi BIG45 :welcome:

The PD30 remains one of my favorite EDC light's no matter how many other "popular" light's I get. I like the R4 for the flood and low-low compared to the brighter low mode on the XR-E and XP-E PD30 models.

Sweet deal thanks. I was looking at a few surefires but just couldn't hit the "Add to Cart" button. Its just a little out of price point for me at this time. This is my first non Costco/Walmart light so I'm glad to hear its a quality piece.

The P3D (predecessor of the PD30) is my go-to light for any/all situtations. I love it!

Just a little OT but, how crazy am I thinking that Fenix may be the Glock of the firearms industry? Others may think Surefire.

I think it's a good analogy and I think Surefire would be something like Kimber, American made and a bit expensive but worth it.

Why did you choose PD30 and the "tactical" TK11 R5 ?Although i love the size of PD30 which perfectly fits in my palm ,TK11 is far more rugged and easy to operate.Plus it has momentary on function!

While the TK11 is a great light and has much better throw it doesn't offer a low mode (Tk12 does though). Also IMO its too big to EDC, I think the P3D/PD30 are small enough for pocket carry and I did so for about 6 months. Also I think they're tough enough, my P3D gets dropped all the time and hasn't failed me yet.

Good choice Big45-70 :welcome:. The P3D was my first real flashlight, and I'll never sell it, still use it and it lives in my backpack.

When carrying a Glock along with spare magazine(s) the difference between TK and PD30 series is minor in my opinion.
