I just found what looks like a 3-cell xenon version of the MiniMag. I like the fact that it has rubber grips and the potential for more output than a 2-cell light, but I can't seem to find much info on it. Anybody know about the Brinkmann 3AA xenon lights? Will the stock bulb handle lithium AA cells? How about the Rayovac bulbs like the T3AAA or HPX3AA? Thanks for any input.

Binkmann has a Xenon 3AA? You mean the Legend 3-AA krypton, right? As far as I know, there was never a 3AA xenon version.

As for using lithiums in it, you'll probably pop the bulb. Replacing 3 alkalines with 3 lithiums is a bit overkill.

I wasn't sure if the stock bulb was xenon or krypton (not much info on their site). After investigating a little more, it seems that Carley Lamps makes some nice 3.7v xenon bulbs. I'm assuming these will work work with three 1.5v batts - anybody know if these will work with lithiums? Thanks!

Whoa there! Xenon bulbs typically don't like being overdriven. You might get very bright output, but only for a very, very short duration. In other words, POP!

Yea, generally krypton bulbs are the best for overdriving, although even they have a limit... I would look for a nice 4.8 xenon if your using only liths, although that bulb would be Under-driven most of its life, especially with voltage sag... How about 3 eneloops/ni-mh's and a nice 3.7 volt bulb :)
