Does anyone know where I can pick up a replacement endcap/switch for my Brinkmann Long Life LED light? Mine broke off at the threads soon after I purchased it.

Are you talking about the Long Life, or the Rebel? If I'm not mistaken, the Rebel has the threads at the end by the tail cap and the Long Life has the threads just behind the head...in any case, contact Brinkmann customer service. They're very good and will probably just replace the whole light for you...

gotta be the rebel. same thing happened to mine. it still works but hangs in the closet and rarely used as i have little faith in it after the end cap fell apart in my hands. there are way better lights out there for not much more money.

Shoot an email to Brinkman. I understand they were sending out the replacement, improved caps for free. TX

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I know what you're talking about bmccue1964. Mines broke off not too long ago and I can't even tighten the thing. I thought I was the only who's having this problem. Not sure what I'm going to do with my Long Life LED though. I guess as long as it doesn't fall off, I guess I'll leave it alone.

There is a review of the Rebel on the Led Museum site, including pictures of the tailpiece breaking off (yikes!). According to Craig, the problem has been fixed. I agree that even if you get a replacement where this doesn't happen, it doesn't make you feel too good about the light's long term reliability. Too bad, too. I kind of like it. They should make an all-metal version and do it right.

They do make an all metal version. It's called the Brinkmann LX.

Update:

I contacted Brinkmann and received 2 new tail caps for my light. Now that is grat customer service!

I'm now just wondering why they sent me two...

Apparently, the first versions of the Rebel tailcaps had a problem- the glue they used degraded the plastic. When Brinkmann noticed the rapidly-growing thread here on the subject, they fixed it- fast. Call customer service, and they send replacements. I had 2 of the early units, right around Christmas- one broke after ~1 minutes, the other didn't make it out of the packaging. I didn't find the CPF thread until long after I'd returned them, unfortunately.

A metal version would indeed be fantastic! Also, the option of a maglite like adjustable focus would be nice too. Perhaps another LED too?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Definitely needs another LED, or three or four... I just found out I was getting one of these for Christmas by some very well meaning loved ones who know I like LEDs but don't know much else about them, including which ones are worth buying (although its not like the retail establishments leave the uninformed consumer much choice)

So my question is: Does anyone know of a way to juice these babies up, like a drop in replacement mod ala Inretech? Between my Arc AAA and Lightwave 2100 I'm really going to struggle finding a place for it.
