Welcome to the (until now) UK only thread - Havand.

What you say is true to an extent - Keep the number and change the Dollar sign for a Pound one. Until we talk of flashlights, it would seem.

I happen to know that things are even worse in Australia. My Mother lived there until recently (It's OK, she's not dead, just moved back to Ol' Blighty!) and was always complaining of the prices over there compared to England!!

I guess we just have to make the best of it without grumbleing too much - Fat chance of that though!!!

Be lucky...

PS - I like the sound of a UK get together, but I'm from London and we're all miserable here and never get out much - only kidding!! We need a place of convergance with cases full of our best lights. Torchaholic anyone?

Uk prices might have somthing to do with the free health and welfare system that the US only provides a very limited system.

It still does not explain the majority of prices ripoffs.

I have to wonder if as people generally become more comfortable with the idea of buying online, if the kind of price abuses mentioned in this thread will start to fade - because enough people just won't stand for it, knowing the real "market price" of the item.

As for myself, I buy things - mostly DVDs and CDs, the occasional book - from the UK and Australia because it's material that isn't available here - but that has nothing to do with flashlights. ;)

It would be nice if the price abuses faded away, but I have a feeling once it REALLY takes hold (moreso than is has today) that the government(s) won't be able to keep their hands out of it. :/

John must have a lot of children.
Most of the German flashoholics buy in the US, too.
But why must you pay custom-fees for goods from the former colony?

I think the word "former" may have something to do with that!

The $ £ excahnge rate is the best I've seen for ages - only trouble is that it makes me spend more.

A lot of stuff in the UK is a rip off - Just use the net and buy elsewhere.

I just need to find an online dealer selling unleaded petrol...

yes but how many unnecessary accidents happen in the UK in the dark, when using a flashlight would have prevented it happening in the first place.

it`s a catch 22 situation. :lolsign:

As some wise sage once said " if you think healthcare in the UK is expensive, wait until it becomes free"

The netherlands is just as bad.... while the pricing here is a bit less extreme (L4 showroom demo for only 250 euro), we do have to pay for MANDATORY health insurance... Not to mention income tax varying from 33% to 52%

I remember the last time I was in the UK, I was standing next to a very nice American tourist at a gas station, he made a remark about the price per gallon, you should have seen his face when I told him it was the price per liter :)
Later I ran into him again on the ferry to mainland europe. We exchanged travel stories over a cup of coffee and he was relieved to hear that gas prices in france are a bit less steep :)

I think it`s because were an island they think they can get away with the prices.

I wonder what happens in middle of Europe, if their is a different country on every side of you.

you can go were the cheapest price is.
