I got a broken 21W HID light for free at my local diver shop(nice man). Before i decide to kill it/take it apart i want to try if it works first. By the smell inside i think it's broken. It smells like blown capasistors.

I searched for a wiring diagram for this light but it is not easy to find. The battery is missing but i found out it is suppose to be a 10,5V Li-Ion 4400mA/h battery pack in there. Can anyone tell me by looking at the pictures what the plus and the minus terminals are? One cable is black and the other one is green. Once i get this sorted out i will try to power this thing up!

Another thing. If it's broken......Will the parts be hard to replace? I migth just rebuild the hole thing?? And....Is this 21W HID light better than a quad P7 build? I might have room for a 50W HID in here? Any good ideas??

Please keep pictures to 800x600. 21W HID would put out about 1200 lumens.

A quad P7 build would be MUCH brighter at up to 3600 lumens.

How wide is the flashlight body? I'm pretty sure you can't fit an automotive sytle ballast in there. Maybe one of those thin ones.

Cannister size is
length = 150 mm
Diameter = 63mm

Head size is
Length = 140mm
Diameter = 54mm

A quad P7 (if driven properly) will produce about the same lumen output as a 35W HID but won't throw nearly as far. If you don't need throw then the P7's would be easier than trying to fit a 50W ballast of some type in cylindrical body.

That looks more like a halogen light than HID

The bulb says HID. Just tested it and it works! So just replace the battery pack and i will be good :twothumbs

Vendor says: 3xLi-Ion batterys * 2. That means 11,1V? Isn't that a bit low?
