Brookstone Micro Lantern???

A friend mentioned he saw a three pack of LED lanterns at Brookstone in a mall near him. the store was too well-lit to see how bright, but he said they were either 1 or 4 LED. Runs on 4AA. Any news or thoughts on these? Any idea of another (read less expensive) source for these? Though $16 isn't bad.

Are you saying that they are 1 or 4 LED switch selectable or that you're not sure if it has either 1 or 4 LEDs in it?

I was being a little vague because I haven't seen them, I'm reporting what I think my friend said (like telephone-the game /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif ). He said IIRC that it had two brightness levels 1 or 4 LEDs. All that Brookstone says is

He was wondering if you could read by them, as well as a less expensive source.

Might be nice patio table lights if they are in fact 4 LED (even better if switchable to 1 LED when you want). 1 LED only would be to dim for my purposes.

They look pretty neat - the swing in/out feet are a nice touch.

The main reason I posted was to see if there was another source for them. Brookstone is not known for great deals, good stuff but high price.
But maybe in the interest of science I should buy a pack /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
