Hey all,
Looking for some advice in terms of a cheap (hopefully <$30) weaponlight for my airsoft gun (its a modified version of this, if you're interested).

I have been using my Romisen RC-G2 II from shiningbeam, which is AWESOME but I can't, for the life of me, find a remote pressure switch to replace the tailcap with. If i could find something that'd fit, that'd work just fine.

Other than that, any suggestions on a budget, one mode, BRIGHT, AA thrower that's compatible with a remote pressure switch?

Thanks a million in advance lovecpf,
Ross

Hello! So what i found works well is the Solarforce L2 Normal it fits perfectly into http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4772 on standard 20 mm rails but you might have to get a pressure pad for your gun depends how lazy you are :) a solarforce L2 goes for about 15 bucks for the host and 5-60 for a P60 Drop in

Thanks for the reply. Looks like a good light, but I'd like to stick with AA, as ALL my other lights are AA (and i've got a zebralight AA headlamp on the way).

Also, i think the pressure switch is less about being lazy and more about being tactical?

Thanks again,
Ross

Tactical lights rarely, if ever use AA batteries. It's just how the game goes when Surefire started things with CR123A sized batteries.

For the pressure switch, if you have a vertical grip on your gun an offset mount can put the light so the button is within perfect reach of your thumb (and I generally use this over a pressure switch, even when I have one on the gun).

Arg, i've definitely noticed that. So what really defines a tactical light?

I guess my real question centers around the availability of remote pressure switches for any budget AA LED light.

I would run the vertical grip/light on the side like you mention, but I don't have a full rail system. I DO have a light mounting setup near the Red Dot i've attached though, so i've got that figured out. I just need a better/faster way to toggle the light.

A tactical light to me means that it can be mounted on, and withstand the recoil of a real rifle. Since Airsoft is about simulating the military, and our guns don't have any real kick, we generally use flashlights that simply look like those real weapon-mout-capable flashlights look like. That's about it. Myself personally, the light has to always come on at full power no matter what. Most/all of the 3+ mode lights aren't ideal for this because if you have to turn the light on multiple times in a couple second span it'll inadvertently switch into one of those lower modes. Having the flashlight body be 1" in diameter to fit common light mounts, and have an available pressure switch is also ideal.

Since your budget is $30, I would look at something like sku 1025 from DX. Read the reviews and it'll tell you which flashlights it works with. On the very bottom I also got a link to a $4 barrel flashlight mount if you need something like that (since you don't have a rail).

A Solarforce L2m can be used. It works with the common pressure switches.

You can use AA batteries per old4570's post below. I have both the 2AA version L2r and the L2m and the 18650 Li on batt is way brighter using same drop in.

I once had unmatched AA eneloops in my l2r and blew the switch boot out the end when I tried to get the last possible bit of charge out of the battery set. (I have a lacrosse charger and match my cells and use them in marked pairs) Scared the crap outta me. Decided to buy the Li on 18650. It's not rally that expensive. $16 AW battery and $7 DX charger.

Use O rings to keep the AA batteries from rattling in the larger diameter tube.
