Hi, new member here. I am looking to build a flashlight for a 12ga shotgun. From reading through lots of posts I am thinking of using a Malkoff Led. I would like some help in finding a body that prevents battery bounce against the Malkoff. I have no idea what its called. Then just a simple clicky on the rear. Is there a website thar sells all this? Thank you for your help.

Hello, i am pretty new myself, but welcome . A lot easier to get an Elzetta. This is what i have on my Mossberg for 2 years and many rounds with no problems. Uses 2 CR123 cells. Very bright, single mode, rear clicky switch. They sell the mount also, and you can get a pressure switch.

Thanks for the reply. I like the Elzetta. From what I have read and saw on youtube. I would like to try putting one together.

The recoil from a shotgun is pretty severe. I don't know of a body that will keep the battery from moving. It's all up to the springs.

A large issue with building a light for a gun is that the shock can knock the LED off the circuit board, inductors off the converter, etc. You need to make sure that everything is well secured, otherwise you may have to rebuild it a few times. :)

+1

Look at the gun-specific (weapon mounts) stuff from Surefire as a basis for something "proven".

... I am thinking of using a Malkoff Led.

That's a good place to start. Malkoff is top of the line & some people use them for WML. You'll need a Surefire 6P to host the Malkoff. Choose the flavor you want & you're GTG:

Another good choice is the Q5 drop in from TNVC. They sell the drop in + 6P as a package for $104.60

Or sell the drop in alone for $39.99

The only way I know to do that is to have the body bored for an 18650 & leave a retention lip (mechanical stop) that positively prevents forward battery movement.

Either the Malkoff or the TNVC drop in (or any other high quality P60 drop in) will work with a bored body running 18650.

AFAIK there isn't a way to do this using primary cells (CR123) unless you buy a dedicated weapon light.

I've done that same thing for someone who weapon mounted their 6P PrecisonWorks did. The only complaint I got back was that the batteries would lose their skin quite often. An easy fix by attaching a cardboard ring at the end of the cells by glue.

PS. IIRC, Surefire E2L Outdoorsman did this same thing to prevent their switch from being damaged.
