Well, Inspired by the "embedded reporters" with the troops over in Iraq, I decided to build my own Night Vision Camera.
What I built didn't really cost me anything but a little time since I already had everything I needed, (A Night Owl NOCC3 Monocular and A Nikon Coolpix 950) but you should be able to build something similar for significantly under $400 even if you don't have any of the parts, if you shop around and buy used if possible.

The general concept may also work with a variety of other types of NV devices and cameras and even camcorders, although I haven't actually tried anything else yet.
My setup could use some refinement, but it works quite well, especially considering the investment.
