I got my triple blanks in from Mattaus and man they are nice! I also got a parallel board from him, which I had been worried about trying to get emitters on. I have seen all the reflow YouTube videos but none of them were for triple pcbs. Got my cousin at work to help me clipped three still connected 10mm pcbs with 5000K xpg2 in one helping hands clip and the other the triple board. He heated with a heat gun and they came off surprisingly easy and I set them on a piece of clean glass. Then he heated the triple that I had pre tinned and started setting the dies on taking the heat on and off as I set them. I was really worried about getting them to center properly but no big deal and they were on in no time.
I was really worried about the reflow and man was I worried about nothing! Anyone wanting to try it should, its not hard at all using the heat gun method works exceptionally well.
Stuck it with some artic alumina.
Then I added a 4.2A driver I picked up from nailbender.
I needed a spring for my driver board so I was gonna use A standard P60 spring but decided that it may have too much resistance so I looked around the shop and came up with an idea that I thought others may be interested in, I took a yellow wire terminal end the 10-12ga size and used the barrel that you crimp and soldered it as a perfect fit on the pos pad.
This is the first triple I have ever seen and the output is just crazy. I compared it to my sst 90 mag that is measured at 1600 lumens and it has about half to maybe 3/4 the throw but the amount of light is amazing and the 5000K is just perfect its definitely over 1000 lumens.
Was a fun project and trying to decide whether or not to build another of the same or get a LuxRc board for the other.
