C and D eneloop source?

Accupower cells from Thomas distributing are low loss c and d cells like the eneloops and have a good rep. They also have higher capacity than the sanyo eneloop c and d versions which I have read about but have not actually seen. I have 6 of the d size accupower cells in my two ElektroLumens P7 conversions and I have been very pleased with thier performance. I also got the C808 Maha charger from Thomas distributing as well for these cells which will charge aa c and d cells and is 8 bays and features conditioning cycles as well. This makes a first class setup.

Yes, those are the batteries but thats not the charger I'm using. the C808m from maha is the one that I use and Thomas has that as well.

Sanyo makes Eneloops ONLY in AA and AAA sizes. You can get AA's and stick 'em into C or D plastic adaptor thingies, but note the low capacity compared to ordinary alkys of D size.
In my case, I successfully use NiCd's. They are cheap, take abuse, and they do suffer from self-dishcharge over time, but not as bad as NiMH's. Also note that NiCd's can easily supply 5+ amps without breaking a sweat.
BTW: why eneloops, and not the standard NiMH's, which should perform with apblomb?

Hi Jerry,
I have a source for the new Sanyo C and D cells overseas so I know they exist. I was wondering if anyone had found a US source.

FWIW, at the current exchange rate they are priced as follows:
C eneloop $14 USD
D eneloop $17 USD
Sanyo Multi bay Charger is $50
Plus shipping.

If that is indeed the price of the batteries when they go onsale here I think I will pass. Too much per cell with that dismal capacity. I'm sure they will be quality cells but like I said in the previous thread I can get $5 7ah nicads that will do basically the same thing.

shakylegs: AA and AAA prices for comparison?

As another example, this post details comparative prices at BIC Camera:

http://www.candlepowerforums.com ... post2590816

They are currently selling 4 Eneloop AA cells for 1,480 Yen and a D cell for 1,680 Yen.

At today's exchange rate, that's 14.57 and 16.53 respectively:

Methinks Costco and other high volume vendors will do significantly better than these prices, especially once the exchange rate settles down again.

Incidentally, MahaEnergy is currently selling their PowerEx C and D cells in pairs for 25.95 and 35.95 respectively:

.

Has anyone has located a source for C and D eneloops? If so, can you share?
Thanks
shakey

I checked eneloopusa.com to check the status on getting C and D Eneloops in the United States. Here is the answer I received:

Thank you for your interest in Sanyo eneloop batteries.

At this time, there are not any plans to release the C and D size eneloop in the USA.

Japan is insanely expensive. It may be that Europe or Hong Kong suppliers may be our only hope. Its really weird to see the tables turned on the US for a product like this.

Craig.

Get a 3aa d adapter from kaidomain for $1.50 and "duraloops" for $2 per aa locally. $7.50

The ones from KD are serial (i.e. 3.6V per adapter).

If you are looking for parallel you have to look elsewhere.
"Jerry" has been asked about it many times but nothing comes from it.

Oof! Well maybe I can mod the ones I ordered to parallel. It's for a low current application. I'm not going to buy 4 of those $20 cells.

Where are you getting the cheap nicad's. I have a couple c/d things, mostly kid stuff so I hate to spend $100 on c/d nimh to put in a $25 radio. Will the maha nimh hargers do nicad too, I can't say I've ever seen it mentioned.
