Santa came a bit late this year but now my SF C2 has arrived from OpticsHQ. (Nice service btw:twothumbs)

Just a few questions:
Is the lanyard coming with a clip or just the ring? I didn't get a clip (no biggie, I just get one of my own)

I ordered the HA and got a HA body with a black head. Doesn't look like the photos so I just wonder if that is normal? (it looks really nice so I'm not complaining, just wondering)

Its supposed to come with the ring and the lanyard which attaches via a clip.

If you ordered a HA-III Olive Drab C2, the head and body are supposed to be the same type of colour. Its rarely a PERFECT match, but it will at least be very similar. If you are getting a HA-III Olive Drab body, you should not be getting a HA-II or HA-III Black bezel(head).

Sounds like you got one that deserves a Warranty Claim from Surefire or OpticsHQ.

I'm sure its the "wrong" head. Its a clear difference. How can I spot if the bezel is HA-II or HA-III? I´m really happy with the looks so I will stick with it but if its a HA-II I will feel kinda cheated..

That's very unusual if you got a black, Type III bezel with your C2. Could you post a picture, please?

Tempest

You do NOT want to use the gate clip for the lanyard, anyway. This has been discussed here several times, as the clip will pop off with just a little twist. My then-new C2 met concrete twice the first time I took it to work, and used it with the lanyard(you know, to make sure I didn't drop it:rolleyes:).
The way you have it attached now is much better. I tend to knot the paracord behind the split ring so that the lanyard doesn't slide around.

Strange about the mismatched ano. You might call SF and ask them to send you a nat-HA bezel.
Also unusual to me is the extra little step machined in your C2's body where the body flares to meet the bezel. Normally there is a single ledge all the way around, that is contiguous to the portion around the clip insert.

Surefire has been letting the ball drop on HA matching lately imo. My older lights look like someone actually tried to match the HA. Most older lights 3-4 years old have a perfect HA color match. You should see how perfect the HA matches on my C2 that is 4 years old, it's spot on color-wise.

I know that getting a batch to match isn't easy... but they used to be able to do it, so what's up with the problem now? Some of the LX2's look really, really bad, I wouldn't be happy getting some multi-color light for $200. If they never matched I wouldn't care, but they used to. At least it was a lot better.

Surefire seems to be cutting corners lately. Another cut corner is the new designs not using knurling. Everyone says they are just as grippy in the hand, I do not agree.

This is the worst case of color match I've ever seen. If you're happy with it and like it, cool. But I'm super surprised by this one.

This is unique in terms of a SureFire "screw up", but one that I prefer. I actually bought a 6P head to put on my C2 and LOVE the way it looks. Maybe the anodizing isn't as strong as HAIII, but I've got a flip up red filter on my unit anyway, so it's a moot point for me!
Whether you return the light or not, the C2 is fantastic, great choice!
If you need a lanyard ring or clip, I've got a couple I'll send you for free, I don't use them, so shoot me a PM if you want.

There's no such thing as HA-II. It's HA (which is type III) or type II (which is NOT hard anodized).
That photo looks like a different body to my ones....

It's hard I tell for sure with reflection from the flash, but it looks like dark gray to me. The only factory black ha bezels also come with lexan lenses so another way to tell is if the lens makes the higher pitched tink sound of glass. That would be even more likely to be a dark grey.

Pretty sure its glass. Well, might just be a darker batch. Color is just as dark as the pocket clip. Nice to have a not so common body on it. =)

Another thing I was wondering about was the lock-out tailcap and its marking. The lockout and the markings are not aligned. The lock-out deactivates 90 degrees before the marks pass. Should it be like that? Common or a fault?

Looks like darker grey to me also... my C2 is that colour all over, refer to ElectronGuru's shots to see what I mean.

The lockout is deactivated before the marks. The marks are there for indication of momentary use.

Yeah, but I can use the momentary before the marks. I thought the marks had to be aligned or more to be able to activate it. Well, just a detail.

That is perfectly normal. The marks are just there so that you have an idea where abouts the tailcap is per se'.

Ie. so you know that it isn't locked out, that you can use momentary, and approx. how far you have to twist for constant.
